I wouldn't get the hammer tacker (those are for roofs and hard to control); I'd go for a basic hand-held heavy-duty staple gun like this one:

CP is right. Not the right kind of stapler. I prefer a power stapler, but if not then get the one where you push just above where the stape comes out. You get more control with that style and takes less effort, since the weight of your push is directly above the staple.

Sorry, meant to add the one I linked to is light duty, but in the style I meantioned. You'll want a heavy duty forward action staple gun.

Ooh, good call, Me. I use an electric upholstery stapler myself and haven't checked out regular staplers lately. :-)

I have used a handheld one I picked up at HD, heavy duty one, but depends on what part of the chair you will be stapling too and if it's solid wood. if solid wood, I've had most of the stables not completely sink in and had to go back with a small hammer.

I like the one I have now that attaches to the air compressor!

Oh good Lorrie. I'm happy for you. We have one for our air compressor too, but unless you'll be using it often it's not worth the money since you need an air compressor too. But boy are they nice.
