I have a silly question. What is a "crop" at someone's house? I have never bought any Creative Memories supplies for scrap booking before. I have been to one party though. It was a long time age. Way before I ever started scrap booking. I had someone invite me to a "crop" the other day. She sells Creative Memories. I thought about going, but didn't really know what it was. I know you have to pay $10.00 to go to one of the parties. Do you have to anything to go to a "crop"?

I went to a Creative Memories party w/my sister (where she lives) several week ago, but there was no charge to go. I don't understand that. We used the hostesses supplies, bought a few items, and spent about 3 hours there, working on our books and oohing and ahhing over other's books. Had a great time. My sister's been to several at this person's house, but doesn't pay anything. (They all take a dish, and the hostess supplies the beverages.)

I've had the same experience as Albert with a lot of other types of trees (especially citrus) where they will root better with no leaves (or only 1/2 of a leaf).

The OP's house has some small traditional features and it has a gable roof but its definitely not a Cape. A Cape always has a roof steep enough for a second story under the rafters with windows only in the gable ends. The entrance is always under the roof eave; a full cape has 2 windows each side of the door, a 3/4 cape has one on one side and two on the other, a half cape has a window each side of the door. You can drive for a mile through E. Oleans, MA and see very few houses that are not true capes. One story elements are sometimes added to the sides but rarely porches or dormers. Only a realtor would call the OP's house a cape. A Field Guide to American Houses classifies the OP's house as "Minimal Traditional" which is part of a larger category: "Modern" houses.

Well I went to two parties while I was still in Australia. I also paid $10 for each one I went to. It covers the cost of materials etc.. So I guess if it is the consultant supplying the supplies it is their preference whether to charge or not.

The way it works here in NH (I've been to several different CMC's [Creative Memories Consultant] workshops and classes) is a class is $10. At the class you learn about preserving your pages and how to get started. You leave with 1 completed page, of which the CMC has provided the page, stickers, and paper, (you're told ahead of time to bring 6-8 photos with you) and a pair of scissors. If the hostess, not the CMC, decides to provide snacks and beverages, that's her call.

Workshops, which take place at teh CMC's house, are $5 and she includes snacks and beverages. Any supplies you use you purchase. Crops, which are usually long sessions, are $10 at the CMC's house and include snacks, beverages, a "crop talk" where she discusses new ideas (sort of like a mini-class), and prize raffles. Ours here last 6 hours.

One other little feature my regular CMC offers (I no longer go to different ones - just the same one all the time now) is that after 5 workshops (the $5), the next one is free. Also, after you spend $250, you get a $25 gift certificate.

So basically, if you're invited to crop, it most likely is like the 6 hour one I described above. If it's a class (also $10), then it wont be as long.

I really like going to the crops for the ideas that I get from others. I also look forward to getting out of the house without a 2 year old on my hip!! :)
