I just registered here after reading all the posts regarding the fiskars and bermuda at the lower settings. I purchased a fiskars a couple of weeks ago and noticed the chopping look and the grabbing of the grass at the lower settings too. I laid my bermuda 419 in my front yard a couple of months ago and have been trying to keep it at the lowest setting like it was from the sod farm. When the mower does not jam up and stop dead it its tracks I get a rippled look like someone else mentioned earlier. I was going to post a couple of pics but can't seem to figure out how. I have sent an email with pics to fiskars explaining the difficulty with my bermuda and will post a follow up if they can offer a fix. I don't want to have to send it back since I ordered it online and I think it is a nice mower, but if it won't glide through my bermuda, what's the use? Someone mentioned that it needs a roller on the front instead of the two little wheels, what do you mean by that? I also have scott's classic 20" but didn't notice a roller on the front. I have read this explanation somewhere else too, but would like some clarification. Thanks, so far I love the advice given here.

My first ratary cutter was an Olfa...very small blade. I bought a 45 Fiskars and love it. I also have a Fiskars 65 and use it quite often as well. The only problem with it is, I can not find the blades at too many places. I look for them when I am in Illinois for my family reunion each August. I have never found them here in Canada although I purchase it at WalMart on clearance. Speaking of WalMart, I was into the closest store today and they are closing the fabric dept. I was very surprised at that because they are putting an addition on the store and turning it into a Super Walmart. I spoke to the saleslady and she didn't think that they were going to put fabric in the new store. I got some great deals but will certainly miss it. I went to the next closest store later on in the afternoon and asked if they were closing the dept and the saleslady said she didn't think so since they were always busy. I guess I will just have to wait and see. Mary

That's a good tip, Izzy, but actually it was the narrow setting that I started out on! I was about to give up, then I tried the wider setting and it worked fine. Maybe I will just have to always make wide ovals. :) Joelle, I got mine at Wal-Mart for $17.96. I have heard that they have them at Michael's, and they are probably available at most places that sell Fiskars products. The blades are not the same ones that are used in the Fiskars circle cutter. At Wal-mart here, the replacement blades are $3.96 and come two in a package.

CM oval cutter - yuck yuck yuck!! personally, I don't like it. I find it awkward to use, leaves a lip around the edge of the picture, and limits the sizes of the ovals. I'd love to see one made exactly like the old cm circle cutter - the arm that swings around the blade (does that make sense?). I just didn't like it but I'm told it takes a lot of getting used to.
