Haven't tried it yet, but am going to. Never thought of doing it on a scanned photo, but that's a good idea, as I plan on doing it for dd's 1yr portrait.

I haven't gotten brave enough to attempt it yet, but I will. I have the stained glass template in the book that illustrates this effect. It's a HOTP book.

I've never heard nor seen this style. When you've done one would you post it (if you can)? I'd love to see how it looks. I'm always looking for new effects/looks.

This sounds like a neat idea! Do you use one picture cut up into pieces with lines dividing it or do you use different pictures cut into shapes put together to make a stain glass window? I'd love to hear more about this!! Sherry

I have seen photos how to do it in ideas books but haven't done it myself yet. I have looked on line at some differnt layouts but haven't found a picture of this type yet. You usually cut the photo in to pieces and then outline the separate pieces with a dark or black slim outline. They look really cute but kinda hard to do with out a template. It might be easy to make a template by taking a piece of paper and folding it like you would for a snowflake and cutting out parts, of course the parts removed would have to be big enough for the picture to really show though. If anyone finds an online site for a sample layout please post it's link. Penny

Gosh, I've finally found something I've done that nobody has tried yet. I did this for easter two years ago. I drew an egg shape on purple paper the size to fit on an 12 x 12 page. The egg measures about 10 1/2 x 9 wide. About 3" down from the top (sm. end of egg) I cut it off in a zig zag cut like it cracked and I opened it up on one side. On the top part I printed The Great Egg Hunt Easter 98. I had taken a bunch of pictures of my grandchildren on an egg hunt outside collecting their eggs and counting. I took the pictures and cut around each child and their basket. One was of my son helping the youngest one count his eggs. Then I arranged them in different places on the egg till I got a design I liked. Now don't throw away any of the background that you cut away because you will cut it into diff. shapes to fit between the figures of the children. You can do this by taking a piece of clear see thru. paper and laying on the egg and drawing the odd shapes to fit. The shapes don't need to be close together because you want to leave a path of color around each one. Mine has a purple path around each one just like a stained glass. It really makes a neat effect and was a lot of fun to do. I hope I explained this easy enough. It always sound easy to the person that is doing it. I might try taking a picture of it and maybe I could post it somewhere. The rest of the page I added some spring tulips and choc. eggs. I just started cutting my original pictures and had no problem. I always make 2 copies of my pictures anyway. Try it. You'll like it. Norma

Hey, I think that is a teriffic idea. I had never thought of doing an egg. I have also seen where they added vellum ot the pages so it looked like you were actually looking through a window. Penny who is still looking for a online site that shows a picture of this stained glass look.

I have done this. It takes a long time, but the finished product looks nice.
