Gardenway Chipper/Vac Approx 20-25 yrs old
Comments (9)Hello everyone, I am happy to join the discussion of this illustrious group of Troy-Built Chipper/Vac owners/enthusiasts. There is a joy in owning a finely engineered product, which still has sufficient material strength and was crafted in the USA. Every time I use it I think of the fellow Americans that worked their shifts in the factory making my shredder, clocked out after their shift and went to their children's Little League game...somewhere in upstate New York. Picking up leaves is not a chore, rather a trip down memory lane. If we still had those and similar jobs in this country, life would be happier in these United States. I am looking for a hose adapter housing (with or without a hose) for my Model 47035 (1996 vintage), part number 1768650 (which is a part in the Vacuum Hose Attachment Kit (Part No. 1768675.) This is the fiberglass/plastic piece that attaches to the deck, to which the vacuum hose is attached. If you might know of a source, please let me know....See More20-yr old azaleas
Comments (2)All plants have a finite life span (though some, like bamboo, seem immortal because they are colonial). There are azaleas that are over 100 years old, but depending on the type of azaleas that you have and the conditions they are growing in, senescence could be setting in. Senescence diminishes a plant's ability to deal with environmental stress. The actual cause of death may have been heat stress, dessication or freeze damage, but the plants were able to tolerate these adverse conditions better when they were younger. Perhaps you just have a number of senescent branches that need removal. Sometimes cutting a plant back hard can help rejuvenate the plant with new tissue in which cell division is vigorous and will remain so for many years. Azaleas generally respond well to pruning. Try cutting one-half of a plant back hard and see what it does. If that doesn't work, you'll have to replace them. You still got a good return for your initial investment of a few dollars back in the 1980's....See More20yr old steel w/ 7yr old vinyl liner
Comments (1)I know my parents have a diving vinyl pool. It is 21 years old. The ground shifts so much there (East Texas) that the entire plumbing as been replaced. They have went through two liners and are trying to decide on whether to get replace the liner one more time or fill the pool in with dirt. They are in their late 50s and don't want to clean a pool anymore especially since all the kids are grown. For them a vinyl pool ended up the best as the shifting of the ground would have killed a gunite pool. The liner moved with the pool. You might ask more specific questions and others would probably respond. Blessings and enjoy your house hunting and new home....See More20 yr old Plumeria growing at base only
Comments (16)Sorry if i missed it in the thread but are we sure there isn't frost damage to the soil line? Maybe it's just the image or my display but the bark coloring seems concerning. I also like to see if and where a Plumeria will "wall" off rot. Then i remove as close to it as possible and wait. I will then clean it further with a pocket knife, dremel, hand saw, etc. and temporarily seal with caulk. Here is a good example of nature running its course. The tip was lost and dried out and I was able to "snap" the dried out area off and expose a nice clean callus....See Moreroof35
