I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I received my wonderful package from Margo. The author was Fern Michaels and the book is The Nosy Neighbor. It sounds like exactly my kind of book! I just finished a Fern Michael's book called Christmas at Timberwoods. It's good if anyone is looking for a Christmas suspense story. I have only read a few of her books and not the one Margo sent. I got up with a very sore back today so it sounds like a good day to read. Margo also sent some seeds, a card, a bookmark with information about hummingbirds, a notepad with my initial, a pretty bracelet that she made, and a pop up vase with a greeting card. My Sis-in-law sent me some books to read while I'm recuperating from foot surgery so I just finished reading: Peace like a River by Leif Enger...very good book with a Dad that has amazing faith and miracles seem to be answered through him. Like Jodi,I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hard to get through the first few "set up" pages and it's set in Sweden so the names and currency system are different but a very good, although disturbing book. It draws you in through the mystery part of it but the events that happen to the girl are heartwrenching. And how she retaliates paints a mental image that is hard to get out of your mind. I must say, I'm looking forward to reading his next book "The Girl who Played with Fire" and as soon as I can hobble to the library, I'll get it. And then, for a fun book, she sent me the first in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, One for the Money. How have I gone this long and not read any of this series? Definitely a fun, easy read so I'll be getting Two, Three, etc. soon. I love to read, just usually don't make the time. Having to sit and keep my foot elevated is a perfect excuse. I enjoy all the recommendations from other KTers. I'm making my library list right now and adding Glass Castles among others.

Totally agree with you on the form factor of the futon. I am not loving it either. But we have it and until I find some thing better in my price range. It is very comfortable to nap on left in the couch position. Also to sit on and read. I pull the desk /sewing table chair over for feet up position. It is a small cheerful room that makes me happy to be in. Our company said the futon is great for a few days. He usually spends 4 or 5 nights with us at a time. I added a foam topper on it. Drawbacks on other sleeping options. Twin love seat sleeper will not be long enough for our friend. He sleeps cross wise on the full sized futon. The click clack couches are darling but also too short. We have cats that will claw so air bed is out of the question. LOL The nicer looking couch futons are so uncomfortable. Fold out beds usually have the bars in them in the center of your back unless you can get the ones with springs all around the edges and a mat to hold the mattress. AND the fold out beds take up more floor space when open if that is an issue for you. You should be fine in a 10 by 10 room though. I would think my best option should I ditch the futon would be a murphy. But then I do go in there and nap on the futon some times so that would be over with. Also when I am sewing I find myself sitting down on the futon to do little bits of hand work when needed. We did buy the upgraded mattress. I am not trying to talk you into a futon at all because I totally think they are ugly as sin. I did doll mine up with pretty comforter and pillows and a friends granddaughter said the guest room is very girly. LOL

you know what dgd just got from us? 2 dresses from target (size 2, $2.98 apiece) a skort, target $1.98..and finally the most expensive (kohls not the great buys) a hoodie and poncho, $20. i just can't see spending big bucks on kids clothes that last 6 months... yes, the other granny spent ?? on some sort of doll house...(she has just the 2 we have soon to be 8 grands) another great gift is books. check around though somethimes even the biggies have sales. dd's sil found a little tee and added 2 bottles of non-toxic nail polish for babies, lol... dd1 took a giant ceramic piggie bank from michaels and decorated it...it had on a "blankie" (felt square) and some tassles (she made) it was adorable...she added some loose change for a start... underware was a hit. dgd is trying to go potty by herself..one gf of dd2's tie-dyed trainers...lol...
