Heritage Album

For the last 3 years I have been working on my Family Tree. I have lots of pictures and Vital records and now, I'm looking for a way to display family memento's.

I have been told that there are scrap book products that let you add 3 dimensional shapes to your books. A lock of hair, a coin or similar small, flattish items.I think they are like little boxes that you can mount on your page, then seal.

Could anyone give me an address or web site where I can find these? I'd really appreciate it.

They are clear envelope type items. If I were not trying so hard I could tell you the name of them, but I think they are made my several companies, including 3M products, so you should be able to do a search on them that way. They are called memorbilla (sp) pockets, I think, Penny

Dear Suzi,I too, am about to start on my Heritage photos, and I am frankly dreading it. Not that I don't love my older photos, it's just that I treasure them too much to make a mistake on one of them. I would try going to the link at the bottom of this page for a lot of ideas. You will have to sort through them to find ones that are not so commerical, but this is the site I go to when I can't find it elsewhere. As for the photo frames, try calling some of the local pro photo shops in town. They might have and sell you at a reasonable price the frames you are looking for. I found several frames like this. One of them being a champange glass, with the oval of the glass removed so you can insert the photo. CUTE! Great for weddings, proms, etc... I also got a frame with the inside cut into the shape of a cross, it was really pretty too. If they are pricey in your area, you could always buy one and then use it as a template to make others. How many pages fit in CM album?

I have a CM heritage album with black pages that presently has 38 pages. It's about 2 1/4" thick - probably about the same as some D ring albums. I don't think I'll be adding any more to this album, but it's not really too bad.

Hi- I have 4 albums started, I skip around alot. I work on one then in the midle of doing that one I may get an ideal and start on another one..... tonight I have done 10 pages in my wedding album....I was married over 7 years ago..but I am just now starting on it. I would love to start an ABC album...but it will have to wait.....keep on scrappin!!!

These gals have great ideas! I liked Crystal's idea of the coupon thing too! My suggestion would be that the album need not contain photos that the professional photographer takes. That way, you don't need to consult him beforehand or give any kind of list. Just make sure that you and a couple other guests have your own camera and just take lots of snapshots. Then you can give your prints to her and she'll have all the right photos to put in her album. I'm currently working on my wedding album, and it is all photos that were taken by my aunts and dh's aunt. Lots of stuff; our rings, our cakes, our head table, our harpist, signing the register, walking up and down the aisle, the receiving line etc. You get the idea. Then, if the bride wishes, she can add a studio photo or two just to finish off the album. Kelly

Keeping Memories Alive has some. They also have a page that goes in your scrapbook that has several plastic compartments. Try this web site. www.scrapbooks.com
