Heritage Albums...Suzi

Suzi.......just saw your post on the Heritage albums. When I am doing

(did) my albums I used a lot of black, brown, beige, white tones for

back grounds. I also liked to use templets with scroll designs on them

and draw fancy frame designs around the pictures. I like to use old

fashioned flower stickers and stickers of the old time design. There

are some neat heritage designs out now. When it comes to black and

white pictures I like to keep to muted colors., but there is no fast and

tried rule to that. Only a preference. As far as embossed frames, I

don't know. I know you can do embossing yourself, but I have never

tried it. I think they teach it in some of the stamping classes. It

would look neat with the pictures. I have gotten ideas out of scrapping

books and observing other people and a lot of it just in my head. One

thing I think turned out neat in my album was of my father in the WWI.

I had pictures of him in uniform and some post cards he had sent to his

family from France and Germany. One had a picture of the battleship

that brought him home. I arranged his pictures with the postcards and

an old postcard of the flag that said "And his memory goes marching on".

It was very effective. Hope this helps some. I posted this to your e-mail but it came back to me, so I am posting as a new post. Norma

Norma, thanks for the great ideas. I have used a lot of black pages (actually mostly black) and some brown. I've used white for background of letters I have included. I have found that I have done my pages much more simply than most. I like to have only one or two pictures on the page so not to take away from the photo(s) itself. I'm not using stickers at all. I found some great embossed frames from scrapbooks.com and it was the only place who had them that I could find. I have a lot of great old documents I have included in the book, as well. I am having so much fun with this project! I encourage anyone with the interest for preserving their heritage with photos and documents to begin such a project. You will be glad you did!!! I have also really enjoyed this particular forum!
