framed background pages

I found a site that has background pages that you can download; I love the pages that have frames that you can insert your pix into. The only problem is, they are a little "cutsie" for most of my albums. Do any of you know of a site that has more formal pages with frames? I have an idea to use my scanner, place the pix in the frames and copy the whole page. I am planning to do a Heritage album for each of my siblings and was hoping to do it all on the computer. I know some of the print programs you buy must have this type of thing; I was hoping it could be done on the internet. Or am I dreaming? What do you all think? Would it work, do any of you know of any free sites? TIA. Oh, if you want to see the site I found here is a link.

Dear Deb, I am faced with the same problem. My mom, 3 brother's, and my daughter, would like a copy of my scrapbook, and I don't have the resources to have all of my photos recopied. I have seen some nice photo software in the stores, that have some frames in them, however since I have a webtv, there is no where for me to load the disc into no matter how useful, so I am not sure which one would work the best for you. I do all of my scanning at my daughter's house. If you find anymore good sites though please let us know. Penny

"Classic Themes" has a section called Transparent Picture Frames on this page. I thought they might be of use at some point when doing some of my pages.

The first thing you need to do is create a table with the background attribute tag that sources to the image URL. I know that might sound like gobbletyguk but if you aren't familiar with HTML, there are web page editors that can draw up the code for you to cut and paste. You still kind of have to know what you're looking at. Your best bet would be to get one of the books on HTML. It's pretty easy.

Florantha, I think the word you're looking for is "fretwork." I had list similar to yours. I think there is definitely some whimsy in Hollywood Regency, especially in its later incarnations. I think there was a desire to evoke the luxury of exotic locations. It comes through in the chinoiserie, but also I also saw a lot of palm motifs (which I guess could just be Southern California, but has an exotic feel), and I found a banana motif chandy. Then there's the animal prints and animal images. A bit whimsical but also exotic and luxurious.

How to use patterned paper as background...

Dear Tanya, You should trim the paper to fit so that it least disturbs the pattern. If possible making it as unnoticable as possible, by trimming all the edges alike. Once your pictures are mounted more than likely the background will not be as noticable and thereby hiding the part you had to trim. As for journaling on the paper, if the pattern is really noticable I would attach a plain but matching color solid piece to do the journaling on, but it is possible to write directly on pattern paper.
