Hi, I downloaded this software from the website listed below to record my albums and tapes to CD, using the computer. It was very easy to use. The program comes with audible instructions and wizards to walk you through it (including which jacks to use on your computer). It will automatically set the record level or you can adjust it however you like. It did not require a pre-amp...just plug in the tape deck to your computer. The turntable may or may not need a pre-amp, but the program will detect it, to let you know.I got the wire to hook it up at Radio Shack for just a few dollars. One end will have the RCA ends for your stereo equipment, and the other end will have the miniature jack for your computer. There was no loss of quality, and I was able to actually get a better sound on some songs with the built in equalizer. Hook the stereo equipment to the computer, put a blank CD-R disc in the drive, and the program will do the rest. Hope this helps. Here is a link that might be useful: Record Albums to CD

I also have a cannon about that age and it clearly states it will not take anything over a 2 GB SD card. That would definitely be my guess as to why you get that error. I agree the point of the memory card is to use it to temporarily store the pictures on the camera till you can off load them to your pc and burn them to cd or whatever medium you choose, take the card in and have them printed out or what ever. Once you do that you have all the space on the card available again. I never use the cable to transfer pictures and never use any software from the camera it is just not needed when you can so easily use the memory card in a memory card reader.

Remember the topic I did called something like, "I don't know how to.....?" Well, I should have added in the topic that I don't know how to work my camera except for the basic settings. lol. DH bought it for me, along with a tripod, zoom lens, wide lens, etc. It comes with a video that I never looked at. I've looked at the book but for the life of me I don't understand it, and when I take a picture it's a spur of the moment thing, not planned. I have never been able to take a picture at night unless it's the moon. I try to take pictures of Christmas lights at night, but the camera either won't "click" or the lights are awful. Honestly I'm about ready for a P&S camera like my last one. DH and I share an iphone and he uses the camera for work. I really don't need an iPhone so that doesn't bother me, but they do take great pictures.

I do tend to get attached to the familiar; once I have become familiar with them. I have got a "Montgomery Ward's" radiogram that works. I have some vinyl LP records that I play on it. There is a "Kodak" Instamatic 304 camera with a (dead) flash cube. I had tons of fun with an "Endeavor" Fujifilm camera. I often remark that I grew up in the dark age - when we used a developer tank in a dark room. I occasionally use a microscope that I acquired during my student days. But nothing can compare to the "VIC 20" - the first computer I ever owned. A friend taught me the rudiments of BASIC programming and my best effort was a program to troubleshoot lawn problems. (I am an Agriculturist by training and experience). I passed the VIC on to my wife's nephew. Having said all that, can you guess how many times I have been married? All the best for the season. Ron.
