Poem for Carol

Hi Carol

I'll keep your daughter and her family in my prayers and thoughts. That final act of love and letting go of a beloved pet in a painfree way is so heartbreaking.

Here's a couple of poems I wrote that you're welcome to use.

i'm sure Urlee will also post the other one when she sees your request.

Just across the rainbow bridge

your pet is now in perfect peace

all earth worries have disolved

and problems have all ceased.

So although you are grieving

please don't shed too many tears

as beyond the rainbow bridge

pets never age or ache with years.

The hardest thing we have to do

is let go and say farewell

and I'm going to miss you

more than I could ever tell.

All those years beside me

you were my trusted friend

my sweet and wonderful companion

on whom I could depend.

I know there's a doggy heaven

with balls and lots of treats

where pain and age disappear

and bones pave all the streets

A place with parks and fields

where you can run and play

and maybe we can meet there

in my dreams one special day.

But although you've left me

your memory will live on

and I'll always feel your presence

as love is never truly gone.

Sue, thank you so much, they are beautiful!!! I have saved them in my pet sympathy poems. We have lost so many dogs over the passed few years, I am always looking for beautiful sentiments to help people through their loss. My other daughter lost her Mastif about six months ago, that too was so hard. They all become part of our family.

Carol Ann - yes, those are flowers from my garden. My youngest son grew the sunflowers a couple years ago. He loved watching them follow the sun. ;-) I know I don't know you face to face, but enjoy reading your posts because your personality does come through - just like many others who post here frequently.

I found the tax shelter in this posting when searching for a gift for my brother. He is a tax preparer and has everything. So I just had to share what I did for him. I took one of those woodcraft houses from Walmart- removed the two screws from the base. I cut a 1" block of wood that fit into the bottom of the house. I glued this block onto the base thus allowing the top of the house to be easily lifted off the base. I cut a 1/2" groove in the center of the block with the table saw so I could set a card of thumb tacks into it. This was hidden in the house until the top was lifted off. I wrote a poem for this & read it to him while my daughter did a Vanna White presentation of the house. Everyone got a good laugh out of this and I finally did a complete craft project! It's been a while. Hope you have as much fun with this as we did. Here's the poem: I drew your name for Christmas It's an honor, don't you know To get my brothers name for Christmas Ah! ashopping I will go. But then I started frettin After searching high and low Whatever will I get 'im (Twas wrong to worry so!) I went into an office shop Maybe something for your desk? I talked to the clerk a lot She tried to aid me in my quest. He could use a tax shelter Is what the lady said It seemed a bit off-kelter But there was nothing left instead. So here's your little shelter All painted so very nice The foundation has been mended The roofs' been polished thrice. The flowers are all blooming In the big pot by the door The bumblebees are buzzing And there's no sawdust on the floor. It seems to be the perfect place I do agree she's right It sure beats a plain old case And your tacks! They're finally safe at night!

Carol they certainly do become part of the family :)
Urlee the frame and graphics really set the poem off - you did a fabulous job and that would be a treasured keepsake to frame.

I showed it to the mother and she LOVED it.
She wants to give it to her daughter (the owner of the dog) for a Christmas present.
Shucks, do I have to wait that long before I hear what the daughter says?
