Recommendations for Windows/Bi-fold Doors

We are just starting on our home remodel, and the first decision we need to make are on Windows. The plans call for casement windows throughout the house. We are debating between Kolbe and Kolbe windows and Semco. Is one significantly better than the other?

We are also considering installing the NANA bi-fold doors in our living/dining area. Are there other reputable, less expensive manufacturers? Recommendations?

Don't try to compare window manufacturers without considering the actual models you are considering. It's just a waste of time.

We are going with a company out of New Zealand for our bi-fold doors: http://www.alvistaamerica.com/downloads/AABrochure.pdf
There is a local distributor near us (northern California) and the doors are absolutely beautiful and much less expensive than nana, Lanai, or La Cantina doors. I have see an example of each door, and while the nana seems to be the best quality--I honestly can't see much of a difference. And for our window door configuration, the AlVista door came in 10K cheaper, installed!!

Good side is that it means my window guy is legit and looking out for me, bad side is that I now have to spend $13K (:eek:) to get the look I wanted with this room. He was pretty clear that part of it is they will need to beef up the structure to support the doors.

Not commonly found at retail outlets but any should be able to special order anything you want. Your problem will be in trying to mount floor pivots unless you can live with a threshold.

Got a bid from Marvin doors $17k (Wood) and Panoramic Doors (Vinyl) $10k for a 10’ by 8’ door. Panoramic doors have 10 year warranty and customer service so far has been amazing! Seeing the Marvin door in person I was extremely unimpressed especially for the price. I like the fact that it was explained that Panoramic doors carry the weight at the bottom not the top. I was originally concerned about overall structure with such a large door. I’m finding it hard to reach anyone at Nana wall and getting a quote online is a pain.

Thank the lord we have NanoWall. What would the world be like without NanoWall spamming his way on to websites ! Everyone else has to follow the rules regarding spam but NanoWall somehow does it anyway. Next time i find a small pencil mark on my wall, Im going to call the pro’s at NanoWall to erase it.
