I love Elaine and Larry and have it booktabbed so it is the first thing I check when I wake up in the morning to brighten my day.

After seeing Catalog Living I now can't help but to make up my own scenarios for still life photos when I peruse decorating mags/websites.

*That is actually Izze soda in the last photo. They have a very distinctive label see below.

I have enjoyed watching Gary’s shows on TV for many years and I’d continue to watch him if they’re still available. He teaches the viewers the asthetic application of curves in landscape designs. It’s the simplicity and fail-safe techniques that are valuable. His concepts work universally regardless of what zones or even countries you’re in. Of course, the basic understanding of zoning in relation to plants choices are essential in successful execution of landscape designs is neccesary to appreciate his great work. He repeatedly let viewers know where he was working and it is understandable that he would choose plants that showed proven success. His concepts in designs are applicable to everyone, one just need to do a little home work to find out what plants do well in his or her area and what lighting, water requirement, soil acidity/alkalinity, size (height and width), light requirements, etc for desired plants to achieve an ultimate successful and beautiful designer landscape like he does!! I really wish his shows are still on TV!! It’s such a joy and relaxing experience to watch his shows as always!! Hope all is well with Gary and his family!!

That looks GREAT. I still can't believe that PRG can grow so well under that much shade... Unreal. Those varieties must be the most shade tolerant PRGs out there. I have always had great results with Turfstar, but not with that much shade. I have tried it in the shade, but it thins out significally. I actually decided not to use PRG in my backyard this year, instead I"m using Kenblue and Fine Fescue. Have you tried letting the grass grow tall so see if it gets darkger green? Jim, I"m glad to hear that your lawn is doing great and that you're happy with the Turfstar PRG. Post some pictures when you get a chance. My only complain about mixing PRG with KBG is that during the summer KBG loses its dark green color and becomes green, while PRG remains dark green despite the heat and lack of nitrogen. During the Spring and fall and some times winter (depending where you're located), however, it is impossible to tell the two apart unless you get a close up on the bluegrass blade and spot the "boat" shape leaf.

What a surprise ! Actually, I have to tell you that I have seen the name Crypt. 'Reverse Elaine' in Tropiflora's terrestrial brom list which Dennis sent to me last year, but I have no idea that it would mean reversed to be typical Crypt. fosterianus or opposite variegated like my plant. I've sent a message to Dr. Larry asking him about this, but he 's replied me yet. If it became a new cultivar, I will name it as Lisa recommended....Cryptanthus 'Eniale' ...I love this name, it's sound Hawaiian "Eniale-ale-a" ....LOL ;)

The concept she uses is not new. There was someone who did the same thing online with JCPenny catalogs years ago and it was hilarious. Catalog Living has that "uppercrust decorating" slant to it. I tried sharing Catalog Living with a friend and they just stared blankly as they read the captions.

I love that site--Brave Yellow Sweater is my favorite, too.

I remember a million years ago when someone published a parody of the LL Bean catalog. My cousins got the parody for Christmas, and it was a hoot.
