Making photohows on the computer

I just saw a DVD of photos that someone had made and I am very interested in doing this. I have seen the Photoshow5 ad on the computer and made a show on it and I like it very much. I was wondering if there is better software out there that is not too expensive? (say no more than &60.00)I don't want to get anything too complicated as I am not very good with computer things. Thanks for any info you can give me, Sandra

Hi Sandra,

You might want to look into a program you probably already have, Windows Movie Maker....it is part of Windows XP....you'll find it under:

- Start Button
- Programs
- Accessories
- Entertainment
- Windows Movie Maker

You can create slide shows, add text, music etc....you can make it as simple or as complicated as you like....

If you are running Windows, the price is right.... : ))

I am using Photostory on CD & DVD and LOVE it sooooo much, I am in my glory!
The only problem is, is instead of a book you can read, everything (manuals & help) now a days is electronic so I have my eye on getting a laptop so I can relax in the easy chair to read instructions and hints on how to use everything. I was printing out stuff but that was hard on the pocketbook. (ink/paper)
I started using movie maker but found better easier options on Photo Story 2004 which I only paid $18.97 for then being that was an older version, I decided to get the newest one from BestBuy that was $19.99- $$25.54 w/tax,shipping on the net.

I turned on the computer today and no clicking. So far it is not the hard drive or the floppy drive and it is not a memory module as I tested that last night. The CPU cooling fan is a new one. It is one of those with the copper tubes and is suppose to be better than the standard cooling fans. Could it be the video card? I have a Radeon 7500. I also want to thank everyone who posted quick responses.

Last Friday you started this thread about your computer not responding. Genes suggested more info would be a great help and I made a couple of suggestions including a site with fixes listed for what may be your problem. What happened? No point going further until we can understand what you did and if anything worked. You started this thread on Sunday, I asked how old the computer was - no answer. I suggested inserting a CD or DVD to eliminate that as the issue perhaps. What happened? Ravencajun suggested using Belarc, you did and said it failed miserably but you now know what is wrong but failed to put that on this thread for anyone who may have an answer. If that were my computer and there was not much to back up then I would save that stuff and then use the recovery partition or CD that came with the computer and return it to factory defaults. At this point I definitely would not be calling in any service person because using the recovery tools is what they would likely do for you as the least expensive fix. Using the recovery partition or CD removes every bit of junk that is cluttering up the computer. Repair techs can be expensive. As it seems this is an older computer you should shut down, remove the power cord and take off the left side to see how much dust and dirt has gathered in there over the years. Dust bunnies can cause heat build up and make the computer unstable.

Well folks, I finally found a site that told me how much the program cost.............well let's just put it this way..........I WON"T be getting that one hahaha ($1,200) yipes! I had no idea it would be that much. I think this program is designed for people who are in business. Too pricey for my budget. After checking into some more sites I did find that there are other programs that are nowhere near that expensive, although still between $200-$300. The concept is still exciting to me. I'm wondering if I could do something similar using something like Paint-Shop Pro?

Thanks so much for the information on the Windows Movie Maker. I checked it out, and have already made a DVD on it . I think this will help me for a while . Maybe after I get the hang of it, I will buy some type of software to add more to it. Thanks again, FlutteringBy.

I think the reason I went with another program was because I needed an encoding tool to burn to disk to be able to play on my DVD player. Plus it has better features.
