My new Pullout I made

I used to have a nite stand with drawers on the left end of counter top I use for my computer. Two nite stands w/C top on top and pull out attached in between.

I always wanted something to lay my book on while doing tutes I printed out and tried pulling the top drawer of the nite stand out but because of the height, no good.

So I removed the one night stand, replaced with board to attach track to and took a wider board to make pullout.

Just wanted to share as I am pleased at how it turned out.

To use the old computer, I shove this one in and pull out one that is on the other desk to the right.

Wow!! How ingenius you are, great job. Amazing what we women can do when we put our minds to it. My husband usually gets a little annoyed when it is me that can figure something out, rather than him.

Way to go Urlee. I wouldn't dare post a picture of my desk. It's an old teachers desk that Gary got from work before they took it to the dump!!! You can hardly see the top of it with all my "stuff" on it!
Yours is so neat and nice!

Petra - I don't want to go that route as it gets to be too small for any that mounts like that and not have too much of a load on the door. Had it at my first house I owned and it worked good there except for larger items. Sweeby - that sounds just like what I want to do. Except I was thinking bottom mounts. Would you mind sharing a pic?

We have the same set up but it holds two plastic trash bins. One for trash the other for recycling. The bins are held in place by their lip as they sit on a lip that was made for them. There is a center piece that slides forward and back so that when you take out the front bucket you can then remove the rear one otherwise it will not clear the counter top. Since we have not used it yet since the kitchen is not quite finished I can say that I can not say anything either way other than it looks like it will work find and the way they are in it does not look like they are going to fall out in any way. They are in there pretty solid. I am assuming you have a similar set up, but my pull out is 25 inches wide and the full height of the usable cabinet. So another words, if this was not a trash pull out it would have been a cabinet. Tony M.

Check out this thread: Rev-A-Shelf Spice Racks for Fillers -- Have you seen these!!!! I don't know what your KD-turned-carpenter is planning on doing or how good he is, but if you search other threads people are happy w/IKEA hardware and design. I would ask to see some of his other work b/f allowing him to do this...especially since the fact that he's your carpenter came as a surprise to you. I personally think drawers are better than pullout shelves (as do many others on the Forum) but if you cannot have drawers, than pullout cabinets, IMHO, are still better than pullout shelves. Checkout the thread above for ideas. If you research your options both on the Forum & at the Rev-A-Shelf and HÃ¤fele sites, you'll find hardware for all sizes of cabinets and a lot of ideas. Wow Urlee - what a nice place to work - not only is my area a mess........the whole darn room is a mess! I keep saying I'm going to clean it up, but I'd never find a thing if I do.

"LOL" It was only clean for a moment to take that picture.
Right now I have notes (papers) and a big looseleaf notebook on there.

I don't think there is such a thing as a forever clean computer desk.

You did a good job of figuring that all out Urlee. I was also going to say how neat and clean it is. I have papers from here to there. Where there's a will there's a way..Right...
