Crown Moulding Cost advice for entire new build house
Comments (29)Houses in PNW rarely have crown molding. Even 1-2 , 5 min dollars, brand new or old rarely have crown moulding. I love it, so my husband made me a gift. We bought crown moulding from local yard- 65ea 16 ft pieces , it was a little bit over a dollar per linear feet for material. Than you need good tools, some experience and patience. 2k and 2 mo later it was done. I love it! There are certain tricks, but you can find online very good tutorials. Again I’ve seen houses on east cost , good mill work and a lot more fine details. Not really important at my area for a lot a people but it looks nice, so approx 1 dollar per linear feet can get you nice upgrade....See Morecabinet crown molding or house crown molding?
Comments (11)ffjunk, of course it's a personal choice, but thought I should add, we have a situation similar to yours, with a pass-through window between painted cabinets, as well as a pocket door between a cabinet and a cabinet pantry. Our cabinet crown molding, and our whole house crown molding are the same heights, but different cuts, so the choice was easier for us - keep the same crown molding throughout the kitchen, though it is open concept. We are using stop blocks at the pocket door crown as the pantry is a stained along with the crown molding above it, and the cabinet adjacent is painted, along with the crown above that. The trim around the door will be painted the same as the cabinet/cabinet crown molding. Our ceilings are 9'. We are also using a stop block where the whole house crown meets the kitchen cabinetry crown - it would be very difficult to both cope and scribe the crowns to match and we prefer the stop blocks. I don't have photos as we are still in the midst of remodeling and our cabinet maker has yet to bring and install the stop blocks....See MoreWindow trim (almost) meets crown moulding? Comments (3)Your room is lovely. With your traditional trim and crown molding, you could add a wooden valence box to hide the hardware. I would prefer draperies or Roman shades over shutters in your room. Much softer and you can still enjoy your view. Comments (4)The easiest thing to do and what I think would look somewhat planned is to remove it from the small wall and have it end in the corner like it does on the other side. If you continue around the corner you have to do the same on the other side all the way into the kitchen and then transition to the kitchen cab molding. Certainly you could do that but just easier & le$$ to end it there and paint it all the same color and it will look finished and blend in nicely....See Morepalimpsest
