Was 49 this morning with a light drizzle. The rain that was supposed to happen turned out to be spotty showers. Now 55 but supposed to go up slightly before it starts raining later tonight. It will be hot again in a week or so. As I always do with the first cool spell of autumn I turned on the furnace for about 5 minutes. It allows some of that funky smell to dissipate from the vents and also allows me to know that it is still working. Will have it checked but if it had made any weird noises it could be checked before the rush.

Great finds! I miss antique stores. I have bought a couple antique items on etsy/ebay, but we have a new antique mall in a town nearby and I am ITCHING TO GO. I have brought home a few items (antiques) from my parent's house. I brought home a small wood stool just yesterday! Good luck on your cushion - the room looks great!

There are a lot of horrible people in the world and many of them have children they have mistreated. I don't think we owe dishonorable people the honor of a respectful obituary. If she had earned respect, that's likely the kind of obituary she would have had written about her. I went to a memorial service once for a friend's father - who was a narcissist who lived his life in a way that negatively affected his children in major ways. One of the kids stood up and gave a speech about his father and what a miserable man he was and how his children had suffered from it. Everyone knew it was true, but the discomfort in the room was palpable. We just aren't used to people speaking the truth about the dead, but I don't see any reason not to. I know it was very healing for the man who spoke his truth at his father's service, instead of listening to the things others said about him while tiptoeing around the awful truth.
