wrought iron & glass door

I have a door leading from the kitchen to the family room/bar.

It's going to be a focal point and I wanted it to be a real "wow" factor. We thought about double doors, like french doors, but really didn't want the opening more than 4'. That would leave 2 x 24" doors, which we all thought would be kind of small. After talking to my contractor and designer, we all decided that a 3' door would look best because I really didn't want double doors and we thought a single 4' door would be too heavy to open all the time.

Well, the drywall was put up today and now the opening for the door looks "dinky" to me. I really think I would like the 4' door better.

Do you think a 4' door would be "heavier" to open on a consistent basis?

My DH says a door is on hinges and they are all easy to open, which makes sense to me, but this door will probably be opened at least 10-15 times a day and I don't want it to be a PITA, if you know what I mean.

It will be wood with glass and wrought iron, if this makes any difference. Would this be heavier than a plain wood door?

What do you think?
