Yes! Welcome to the club. The door is a nightmare. When I see homes being build with these doors I almost want to run in and tell people to change the door before it’s too late. Looks good from the street, but a total disaster. Mine gets so hot in the summer, I laugh about it and tell people I grill on it. I had rust stains after only a few years, had to repaint. Get condensation in the winter, but i seal from the inside on super cold days - it helps. Actually in the process of buying some weather proofing for the door now and hope it might help Some more. We have iron double doors and they ARE heavy. They are very well balanced though and open and close like "butterrrr". My toddler grandchildren have no problem moving them once they are open. Price these doors before you fall in love with either idea. Our door was reasonable (4K +) but they can run much higher. Your hardware for these doors is not inexpensive either, and if you have the requirements that Renovator spoke of for your area of not being able to leave one side latched- a double may not be worth the security hassles. Our double door is inside a security gated courtyard so we often leave it open in nice weather when kiddos are not around.

We are speccing a round top entry door for our mediterranean with wood, glass and wrought iron. The local maker has quoted us $7K for a door. Seems like there are plenty of online door sellers doing doors in steel and wrought iron for $1.5K or so. Is there any recommended purveyor that does good work and isn't crazy expensive? We don't mind if it is a "stock" pattern.
