First you're not stupid, just as smart as I am, that's all..lol I hear you, I did the very same thing to my bannana tree a couple years ago. I was so bumed out for days!!! I never stuck mine in full sun ever again after that, I kept it under a tree, and it flourished.. Wierd ha...You think to yourself it's a great idea to give it sun, so soon, must be good for it, since they grow like crazy all over the tropics, all day in the sun... It will be ok. It will drop those leaves, and you will see it grow beautiful ones again. It will also seem taller quick. I personaly would just keep it in speckled sun, under a tree, morning or late in the day sun, or even just light all summer.. I even find my gardenias only like morning and afternoon sun.. I am sorry to hear this happened to you... I know how beautiful and full the leaves can be, and will be again...;-( Mike

May I suggest that it might possibly because there is not enough difference between the day and nighttime temperature? Many of these plants originate from the Atlantic forest, an area of Brazil very close to where we live. Climatic conditions are very different from those inside the average house! In spring and fall, which are the two hottest seasons, they can soar to 90+ during the day, dropping back at night to around 60. In "winter", which is often very dry, conditions are even more extreme with a daytime max of about 80, falling at night to around 45-50, which is a lot cooler. Only in summer, which is usually more cloudy and wet is there not so much difference between the day and nighttime temp, 70-85. What you could do is put your plants outdoors for part of the year, so that they get exposed to a bigger diurnal range. Most of my plants are autumn flowering, but yours might not be.

I only have 8 Taotronics over citrus and those are about 15 inches next to and away from my T5HO flourescents- so they get some light from the T5's too The taller trees, like the Shiranui are under the T5HOs which are mounted on the ceiling. Everyone's growth is going to need to halted with pruning to about 6' as the lights are mounted at 8'. Have mostly dwarf trees, but some non. Love the Taotronics and thanks for mentioning the new gold ones :-) I'm out of real estate at the moment but if any need replacing I'll try the gold. Denise- that's terrific that you are able to make things work combining soils in same container. I've never bought anything that seems quite like 511 so I've ended up bare rooting maybe half of mine when I feel like risking it. Thanks Silica....doing that almost every time I water is probably out of this little old lady's abilities. I couldn't lift that big of a container into a larger container. I have to dump water from the tray it drains into when I water, but can't lift higher than a few inches. Still think my best option is to just bare root next time as painful as it is to the tree and me to do it. As always appreciate your help :-)
