hi! I used to go for white mirror, in complementary light green paint. for cool and clean looks.

It might be my monitor but I don't think the glass tiles & granite are a good match. If you're set on the tiles (they go with the mirror) then I would select a different granite. Just my opinion.

I'm afraid I agree with suzieca; I think you may be happier with glass tiles that aren't so multi-colored. I used a very similar granite in my kitchen and then a combination of beige tumbled marble and sand colored glass tiles for the backsplash and am very happy with the results. I have off-white cabinetry and this allowed me to use a pretty color on the walls (which is also the easiest and least expensive thing to change in the future.)

The white mirror against green walls would be pretty. I also had great success using mirrormate.com for frames custom built to go around the existing bath mirrors. Super easy to install and excellent service. Good luck!

I have that same granite in both my bathrooms! The walls in my bathrooms are a light green and a couple of people have commented that they didn't go with the granite since the wall color is cool and the rest of the room is warm.

I like my wall color and think it looks fine, but you might want to not use a green backsplash (though I think it is pretty) and stick with something more neutral.

As for the big mirror, I used Mirrormate frames on both of mine and they look great.

It isn't just the color that is throwing off the granite/glass tile combination. I think that they are too busy. One needs to be more sedate so the other can shine. Black granite with your glass tile might be stunning, imo.

Agree with the posters above. I see two different "looks" going on here. The glass tiles are very contemporary and the granite is more traditional to me, and I don't think their colors match one another.

(I also have that granite in my master bath!)

I like the black granite idea too, but then I think you need to pull that black into those glass tiles somehow. Another point is I think the black will help "ground" your space since you're using cream tiles, white cabs, white mirror...

Do you have any runner-ups we can see? :)

Great suggestions from everyone! And I think paint_chips is right. To me, the tiles take away from the granite. Perhaps you can decide which you love more - the tiles or the granite, and then focus on playing that up?

Well I think I will choose the granite - since I live in the Texas Gulf Coast and I don't want to brave the heat/humidity to pick another piece of granite! :-)
Texashottie, what did you use as a backsplash, did you just use the granite? (must be a Texas thing with that granite!)

PS to texashottie....does this granite have a "name"? I was just wondering. I selected it from leftovers at my fabricators yard and I forgot to ask her what it was called.

I think the name of the granite is "Coral Springs"...I have the same one and gave my opinion over on the bathroom forum!

Hmm. Mine is "Santa Cecilia"---pretty sure that's what yours is too. I see a little "cranberry" in your piece.

I have a very low backsplash of about 2-3 inches of that granite. Then the wood moulding of my mirror butts up against that and spans the wall. So there's no space between the mirror and the backsplash.

I think you'll like your choice! It's timeless! I painted my cabinets black and then my floors are the same color as your selection.

Yeah - I think it must be the same as brugloverz - because I chose Santa Cecilia for my guest bath - and it is very different from the master bath choice. This one has green and grey in it. I think I WILL paint the cabinets in the guest bath though...and for sure use the mirrormate.com frame.

I've never heard of "coral springs" granite so I looked it up. Had a heard time finding it. It's listed as an "exotic" and this pic doesn't look like yours at all. Is this what yours looks like, Brug?

MirrorMates seems to be a great product, and we'd planned to use them too. I even ordered lots of samples, which I thought were lovely. However, I had my heart set on beveled mirrors and learned from MirrorMates that you won't have any bevel showing with their product.

We ended up buying pretty, framed mirrors that were perfect - - except for the color. I painted them myself (antique look) and couldn't be happier! A bargain too. :-)

I went back to the drawing board (aka tile store) and came up with a new backsplash idea to go with my master bath countertop. I tried to take into account everyone's previous advice. I don't think this one competes with the granite the way the last one did - and I think it is very soothing and will look nice with the satin nickel accressories I have purchased. Opinions? Let me have it!!

Your granite is definitely Santa Cecelia. I have it in my kitchen. The glass tile selection you posted above is very attractive. You're on the right track. Don't do any green - it won't work. I'm not sure about white - can the cabinets be painted in a creamy neutral? Cranberry and black are good accent colors with this granite.

Thanks for your input! No I wouldn't do the green mirror with this. I have been convinced that there is NO green in my granite. I really didn't think this was Santa Cecilia because I selected Santa Cecilia to go in my guest bath and it does not have the grey, beige, and gold tones of this one. I think I'll call the fabricator tomorrow and ask her if she knows. This was a "remnant" (a really big one) she had in her yard.

While the new glass tile is a better match, colourwise, for your granite, it is still too busy for a bathroom backsplash, imo. The white cabinetry, coloured walls, and granite are enough busy-ness in a small room like a bathroom, which typically has windows, mirrors, sink colours, towel racks hanging on the walls, etc. The combination of materials you propose could be visually exhausting.

My granite is Giallo Veneziano and it is the same as yours. I just used the same granite as a backsplash in both bathrooms.

It looks to me like you are really looking for the "wow factor" in your backsplash... so I would suggest going back to the tile store, and consider tumbled marble and choose accent pieces/inserts in the metal finish that you plan to use/already have in your fixtures... copper would look gorgeous, as would oil rubbed bronze. Get creative on the backsplash, but try using all neutral tones and natural materials. Rope borders (tile) in a complimentary tone along with accents/inserts would be amazing, without taking away from the granite.

You are correct Katy - I WAS looking for the WOW factor...but I was having too hard a time! I called the fabricator this morning and asked her to cut a backsplash out of the granite. It's a beautiful granite - so I can't really go wrong. And then at least my bathroom won't be "visually exhausting"! By the way - I'm not far from you in "Sugarville"!

mcps...I think you will be happy with your decision. You can put other stuff on the wall or something for decoration.

I did what you plan to do...not sure which granite but I think it is the same (I think it was the Giallo one).
I have never thought twice about the backsplash. It's great as-is.

I agree - I love that! The only reason I hesitate is because one side of my vanity is lower than the other, which means that the backsplash is several inches higher on one side. See below:

mcps, I think that arrangement (one sink lower than the other) will add interest to your counter and backsplash... with everything fabricated of the same material, that unusual change of level will be a good thing---especially if you use granite on the side of the higher sink where it makes a connection with the lower counter.

Your granite is beautiful... I have that type in my master bath, too, and I speak with authority about "visual exhaustion" because that is---unfortunately---what I created in our bath. I'm glad yours' will be more restful :)

Well I'm going to be the minority - I love the neutral glass tiles with the granite. It's modern/contemporay and if I see one more tumbled tile backsplash I think I will...I think you put a great new spin on it.

Whenicit - I hope you look at this again! Is that a metal frame around your mirror? How was that done? Earlier I was clued into mirrormate.com - but they don't have anything like that. I too have purchased satin nickel faucets and accessories.

Yes, it is polished nickel but it just 'came with' the mirror. It was not added later. A local mirror/shower/glass company was where it was purchased via our builder.
