Help with exterior gray paint color!!

My husband and I have been trying to pick out a color to paint the exterior of our house. We wanted to go with a light gray (on the cool side), with possibly an undertone or hint of blue. We have tried BM cliffside gray (not what we are looking for) and BM whitestone (think maybe too much blue). We will be keeping the trim white. Does anyone know of a light exterior gray color paint?

Attached is a pic of our house currently. The roof is being replaced and will be a dark charcoal gray color (almost looks black) Thank you!!

We used Sherwin Williams Roycroft Pewter but had it lightened. You could consider that if you find a darker color that you like.

I wanted to say too: don't flip out when you see a sample splotch of it on your house. It's going to look very dark compared to the white around it. When ours started going on, I thought our house was going to look like a big black rain cloud. But when it was finished, I was very happy with the color.

You might want to check if x railings are to code...in our area the pickets have to be no more than 4" apart so a child can't fall through.

It does have that purple undertone, but I love it…sets it apart from other grays. If you loved the house you saw, you know how gorgeous it looks on the exterior. Paint the trim Simply White, black shutters (B.M. recommends a particular black for the gray.) Try a purple front door in semi-gloss: I am on Cape, and just painted a client’s front door in B.M. purple…they love it!

This is a great diagram for comparing the similarities & differences between white colours. The data is derived from ‘measuring’ each colour objectively. It tells you to which Hue Family each colour belongs & where within that Hue Family it sits. It tells you just how light it appears, (Value) and just how much light it reflects back. (LRV) Chroma tells how near to neutral or colourful each white is. The HIGHER the Chroma = the MORE colourful white it is. (See Shoji White & Greek Villa) The LOWER the Chroma = the NEARER to NEUTRAL it is. (See OC-151 &Chantilly Lace) What a lot of people describe as an ‘undertone’ is actually their perception of a colour’s Hue Parent. So if White Dove feels too yellow to you, then start by considering those with a lower Chroma. Considering colour data this way is a fast & efficient method of filtering through a lot of colours before choosing a shortlist to sample in your space.

2127-30 Gravel Gray by Benjamin Moore might be worth a look. It sits between the two you mentioned in terms of Value (darker than Westcott, but lighter than Hale Navy). It also has more Chroma (colourfulness) than Westcott but less than Hale Navy. 🌈

Thanks bungalow! Do you by any chance have a picture of your house to see the color??

Here are two pics of the colors we tried out on the back of the house. The one looks too blue, I think, and the other, I just don't like. Thanks!!

Yes, I do have a pic but can't post it from my phone, which I'm using now. I will try later today or tomorrow when I'm back at my desk.

My color is a lot darker than your two samples, so you might not find it helpful.

Roycroft Pewter straight on the shingles, lightened on the clapboards. Egret White on the trim.

Not what you had in mind, I think. :)
