Great bargain today!

You ladies will get a kick out of this one...

My DH ran to Walmart to pick up 2 things today....but he always runs through the clearance aisles (as do I) when we go shopping. Well...he called to see how much toothpaste we had on hand since there was a really good deal. Then he said "hold on, I'm walking down to the clearance section now...and you need to come over here immediately...they have all their batting on clearance." (They got rid of their fabric this past July.)

Well...I knew that if it was a good deal it may not be there by the time I got down there. So I had him read off the labels to me and told him what to pick up. He picked up 12 rolls of batting and the most he paid for any of them was $2.60...and that was for the large sizes!!! The crib battings were only $1.25-$1.85!!! How cool is that!!! LOL

He also told me they had their yarn on sale and when he said "crochet thread" I had him pick up all 5 rolls they had...for $.75 each!!! Those are great for tying quilts as well as for making edgings around receiving blankets!!

Hey...what can I say...he's a good man!!! Can you just imagine him in his flannel jacket and work clothes...going up to the checkout with a cart full of batting and crochet thread!! LOL He said several women in line asked him if he was a quilter! He told one woman "well, everyone has to have a hobby!" LOL Now THAT'S being secure in your masculinity! LOL

Awwww, how sweet is that. DH and I got a good chuckle out of your story.....sounds like something my honey would do for me. Keepers they are for sure!!

Oklamoni. If you like thrift stores check out the Goodwill Industries online auction site...its an online auction sort of like ebay but the proceeds go directly to Goodwill Industries, which I feel is a very worthy cause and you cannot begin to imagine some of the bargains I have found there. I am into photography and I have bought cameras, lenses and other items for pennies on the dollar. They have all kind of categories...hobbies & crafts..kitchenwares, collectibles, cameras & camcorders, clothes, jewelry, antiques, tools and much more I will caution you though, when shopping through their listings check out the photos real well. I find that in most instances the ppl who write the descriptions know very little about what they are describing. To give you an example of what I have found there, about a year ago I bought an old 35mm film camera that came with three lenses and a carrying case. The camera works fine, but we all know that film is almost a thing of the past. What I was really interested in was the lenses because they all three work with my new Digital SLR. I bought that whole set for $26 + $8 S+H..just one of those lenses in that set is selling on Ebay right now for $199. Here is the web address: www.shopgoodwill.com

They still have fabrics at our Walmart, I hope and Pray they keep them, not many other places to buy fabric where I live.

He is a sweetheart. I love the clearnce aisles at Walmart. I can't wait for the after Sales. Nice to pick up some of their boxed cosmetics too
