Hi, am new to this site and am amazed at the number of ongoing posts and opinions about appliances. I am in the middle of needing to replace an Electrolux Wave Touch dual fuel range I purchased in 2009. I was away from my home for professional reasons for 2-1/2 years and when I returned, I noticed that the display was missing parts of letters and numbers. I call my local appliance store and found out it was still under the extended warranty and they sent a tech out to replace it the next day. When I tried to use the oven, I noticed it never reached 350 degrees, called the store back and at the next service call, they told me I needed a new relay board. Comes in a few days later, he puts it, goes phiiiiiit, arcs, then goes out. Still no oven. He calls Electrolux and they told him he has a bad board and they will send out another one. Week later a different tech comes out, replaces the board, and the same thing happens after turning on the oven. Electrolux then says to replace both the relay board and the control board. At the next visit, Electrolux tells the tech to remove a resister on the relay board, he does that, connects it, and still no oven. The engineer at Electrolux then tells the tech there was a software update on the control board and that they would have to replace the relay board again. The store at this point is refusing, and hopefully the third party warranty company has enough documentation to replace this unit. I have informed the store that I do not want another range, instead would prefer a pro-style all gas range. I used to have the bottom of the line semi open burner Viking and really liked that, despite having very heavy grates to clean. The store also recommended a 30-inch American Range Cuisine unit. I am thinking because the higher output, I am now wanting a propane open burner range, that the American Range Performa range may be a good option. If there is anyone out there who has had experience with the American Range units, I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Haus Proud is right that the higher end Bosch models are supposed to be quieter, but I still think any Bosch would be a comparatively quiet choice, overall. We had a top of the line Bosch in our last house, but being an older model, it was not rated as quiet as the current higher end Bosches. We later added a top of the line Maytag. In the temporary housing we lived in while we built our house, we had a mid-range Frigidaire. Now, we actually have 2 of the 500 series Bosches. The Bosch dw's, like some other European brands, have a 2-pump motor system, which is quieter than the single-pump motor situation with American brands. Both the TOL Maytag and the Frigidaire were irritatingly audible from the next room. Our older TOL Bosch (about 49 or 50 dB, I think) was often opened in mid-cycle because we couldn't tell it was running. Our 2 current Bosches running at the same time are pretty quiet. We can hear them running for parts of the cycle, but they don't interfere with conversation or radio/TV like the Frigidaire and Maytag did...And I must add that we have yet to install their custom panels, which I'm sure will reduce any cycle noise quite a bit. "I don't understand the need for 2 ovens - clearly I don't have enough parties." 2 ovens definitely--the holidays were enough to convince me of that. You can't bake anything else when the turkey is in the oven. and let's face it, that bird is in the oven for a LONG time! "Kenmore is made by Whirpool, who also makes KitchenAid, correct? I think I remember reading that Kenmore Elite is basically the same as KitchenAid brand products?" I always heard the same thing until today...I heard the French Door KA refrigerator was made by LG which I think is made by Samsung (or maybe Samsung is made by LG?) Anyway, it's something I would ask when you go to the outlet. My local outlet rep told me if what I want is not on the floor & it was something Sears carried, there was a very good chance they could get it for me at the outlet price brand new. Don't know how true that is, but worth a try! "...all my pots and pans are stainless steel or cast iron, so I won't be needing to replace any of them." Not always true. Those pots and pans have to be completely flat on the bottom--no medium/large recessed imprints of logos/brand names, no raised ring around outer perimeter of pot/pan bottom, etc. We talked with a lady who was enthralled with her new Electrolux induction cooktop except that her pots & pans didn't work even though they were stainless--they had a recessed imprinted logo/brand name on the bottom. It was just large enough in the center that the induction wouldn't work. If you have a store in your area with a working display, I would take one or two pieces of my cookware in to try it out and be sure : )

I have gone through appliance nightmare in the last 3 years and still processing. So far here are my thoughts. Whatever you do stay away from a bosch fridge. Unless its the new French door made under whirlpool. Please just trust me on this. Bosch does however make a very nice range. I had the freestanding 700 series gas range HGS7282UC. LOVED. The BTU is powerful where you are boiling water in mins yet you have a nice summer as well. It's all made of quality metal and materials I had it for over two years and I only had one tiny scratch on the cooktop from where rice got stuck on my sponge. It was a dream. Convection warming drawer meat probe even had a dehydrating option. Sadly I let that range go thinking an all matching set would be nicer and went with a high end kitchenaid range. Biggest mistake ever. The bosch range was 1700 but I have seen it for around the 1500 mark and I really don't think you would regret it. I hate my kitchen aid that cost more has less options and IMO is flimsy junk. It has all the so called powerful burners but they can't compare to my old bosch. If you want pro style on a budget Bosch would be my choice by far.
