Marble Repair - Removing dark stain from marble counter top
Comments (10)See if you can run a steak knife between the bottom of the stone and the sink flange. If so, your sink is leaking and trapping water there. The stone is sucking up the trapped water. The solution would be to drop the sink, let it dry completely, #40 peroxide (beauty supply store) the crack, superglue the crack with the runny stuff, seal the stone bottom, silicone the sink flange and strap it in place, then seal the top....See MoreGame Changer for Marble Counters?
Comments (25)I have Tuffskin applied to my bathroom vanity, laundry room sink, and wet bar and I'm so happy with it! Will it scratch? Yes, but so would marble if you're cutting on it or sliding metal objects like a pan. So far, I have one small scratch that you can only see if the light hits it and it was from the plumber when he installed the fixtures. If you're the type of person who is rougher on things then you would need to get it replaced sooner than someone who isn't. If you're the type of person who doesn't like any "special" maintenance then marble probably isn't for you either. While no application is perfect, this keeps the surface from etching and staining... which is inevitable with marble no matter how often you seal it. I live in Denver and it was $20-30 sq ft for it installed. IMO, that's a low price to protect the marble slabs I purchased for $$$. The other thing I liked about this product is that it can be removed without damaging the stone. The liquid sealer (not the regular sealant) will etch the surface. So down the road if you decide you want to go au natural, you can just remove it....See Morethassos honed marble counter for bathroom?
Comments (18)Jan, I am not opposed to corian.I am not a snob to materials and products. Different materials work for different peopel for all sorts of legitimate reasons. I simply was not aware of it nor thought about it. I personally love real stone, real wood etc. Have never been a fan of imitation or look alike products. Needing white for esthetics, and Realizing real thassos isnt a good option, I was only shown quartz or glassos. Glassos is pretty, but its glass.. so a bit hesitant there. I never liked the looked of quartz, was bummed when I realized that was the route being recommended, and now after this experience, I am really turned off by it . How can every solid white quartz manufacrurer have these black specks all in the counters? It just kills the look if it constantly looks like there sre specks of things on it . I guess in marble looking or pattern quartz they go unoticed, , but in a solid white, no doubt they are there!! i inquired about a few of the white corians with my fabricator and he is checking if he can obtain it. He said he no longer sells it, but will check for me. Glacier white, sparkling white, designer white , modern white....See MoreMan made marble counter cleaner?
Comments (5)I've always used Comet spray bathroom cleaner or a vinegar/water solution on cultured marble. This site suggests bleach or hydrogen peroxide to remove the stains: https://stoneadviser.com/how-to-clean-cultured-marble-that-has-yellowed/...See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
