Thoughts on a counter top for my master bathroom vanity.....
Comments (1)You can see what I used with my calacatta gold honed tile and dark wood, furniture-style vanity: leathered antique brown, which is really more of a grayish brown color. I didn't want to use marble on the counter for maintenance reasons and because I couldn't find one that matched or coordinated well with the floor (even other calacatta's didn't look right). I also considered a gray limestone from Greece, but, again, the maintenance problems....See MoreWho has marble counters in a bathroom?

Comments (3)What writersblock says. We have marble in our bathroom and it is etched all over - even water can etch it. I don't mind the etching, but i'm sure it would bug some people. You can go to a stoneyard and get a sample and etch it yourself and see if the look will bother you. In terms of staining, I'm pretty impressed with how the sealers make it almost impossible to stain. My dd has hot pink toothpaste that she smeared on the white woodwork (big timeout) and I couldn't get the stain off the woodwork no matter what I tried. But she always gets it on our marble counter and even if I don't clean it up right away, it doesn't stain....See MoreBathroom countertop - marble vs quartz
Comments (17)We went with quartz in our kitchen (3 years ago now) as I know I am hard on kitchen surfaces - lots of acids between citrus and vinegar, bright fruits like berries, & not too good or quick about cleaning up spills as they occur, etc. Best decision I ever made. Just installed marble in all 3 bathroom remodels as I know I am easier on bathroom counters than kitchens and was willing to take precautions. A moment of regret when water stained it before it was sealed, but it dried out and the (professional) sealing is great. We did plan ahead - using counter "coasters" for soaps and things, installed a master sink with wide ledges to put things on, etc. Very happy with the soft, cool, translucent look and feel....See Moregtdj519
