I have had thassos marble on my master bath floor for 8 years. No issues. It is pure white.

I was advised against it from marble / tile shops and houzz posts as well.

I would think a floor gets more wear, but counters risk water staining or product staining like toothpaste, moutwash mouthwash, hand soap (?)

I don’t even care about etching ; as it would be honed. I would think sealing would help with stains, but I do know that some marbles are more porous than others. Im not familiar with the porosity of Thassos. I have marble elsewhere in my home , but not anything with thassos.

Bathroom is very pretty by the way. Truly elegant and well done. is that cararra counterop?

Have you looked at porcelain slab countertops?

As above. White Corian, the Original solid/Dupont surface. Don't stick your nose up: )

Under mount the bowl of your dreams. Do the beautiful faucet. Nothing will stain it, no specks of anything in it. It will outlast you.

It will outlast a teen daughter, her nail polish, make up, hair color play and all else.

They would have to cover the entire countertop in makeup, as the spots are throughout the entire counter.

I cant understand how people who buy solid white quartz havent mentioned this; as it seems most solid white have this issue; at least the samples i have here and have been looking at as a replacement ( silestone, msi, emser etc)

The counters are suppose to be stark Thet are olain stark white. these black specks make the courner look dirry when its clean!

First quartz is NOT a natural stone. It's man-made.

I have onyx in my bathroom, but I'm not a teenage girl anymore. I absolutely would not do a marble with a teen. As others have said, you want white Corian. Indestructable and will look great.

Thanks cpartist Hea, I am aware quartz is not a natural stone. The world of manmade materials is new to me, as I have always used some type of natural stone. My reasoning for not using a marble is as you stated ( teenage girls!)

for solid white, my only option aside from pure thassos marble, was quartz. However ALL pure white quartz manufacturers have these black specks that look like dirt. Not knowing much about mandmade surfaces, I didnt think of corian, but after a few suggested it, I went to look at some today . Waiting on info about it.

Did you know that Dupont Corian, (not be confused with Corian quartz ) ........can be sanded refinished , polished....buffed etc. Can't imagine ever needing to do that, I've had mine in the kitchen for nearly 15 years. Why? I wanted PLAIN white. Ditto the bath.

This ONLY fell out of snob favor, when the world was in search of speckled, swirly granite, and quartz was in its infancy. As in..."oh my! There's no GRANITE in this kitchen!"

It's a softer gleam than quartz, the whites are clean and bright. Basically? Its a gift in this application. You've a busy tile, a teen, and it's a guest bath. It's not your primary and when used by a teen? Your challenge will be to visually find the counter for the paraphernalia overload: ) Don't over think an easy solution.

Jan, I am not opposed to corian.I am not a snob to materials and products. Different materials work for different peopel for all sorts of legitimate reasons. I simply was not aware of it nor thought about it. I personally love real stone, real wood etc. Have never been a fan of imitation or look alike products. Needing white for esthetics, and Realizing real thassos isnt a good option, I was only shown quartz or glassos. Glassos is pretty, but its glass.. so a bit hesitant there.

I never liked the looked of quartz, was bummed when I realized that was the route being recommended, and now after this experience, I am really turned off by it . How can every solid white quartz manufacrurer have these black specks all in the counters? It just kills the look if it constantly looks like there sre specks of things on it . I guess in marble looking or pattern quartz they go unoticed, , but in a solid white, no doubt they are there!!

i inquired about a few of the white corians with my fabricator and he is checking if he can obtain it. He said he no longer sells it, but will check for me.

Glacier white, sparkling white, designer white , modern white.

i have a sample of white zeus here. also saw the full slab . It is equally as contaminated as the rest of them. They all have black specks which are only amplified when installed horizontally with recessed lighting bringing them in sight even more.

I‘ll ask about them , maybe they will be truly white as you described. 🤷‍♀️ I hope my fabricator has it to see.

i have yet to see one that is clean. they all have the same black mark issue. aleanza thassos extra, white zeus, super white, super white plus…. even more names i cant remember.
