I love your bathroom, esp the basket weave tile and the marble vanity top. It looks like our MBR are about the same size. We just finished doing some work in our bathroom. We got a new porcelain tile floor, ceramic shelves in our shower, wood linen closet in our dressing area, toilet, etc. Our sliding shower door is 23 yrs old and I am thinking about installing a new hinged frameless door in its place. Our opening is 45" wide. Since it has been over one yr since you installed yrs, what do you think about it now? Has it ever leaked? How much $ did it cost? I was quoted $1200.00 for a Basco Door. That seems very expensive to me. Please forgive me for asking about the cost. I'm trying to find out what is reasonable. I live outside of Cinti OH. I want a big door, and the guy at Lowes said that it would have to be custom ordered. He said that the biggest that I could get was 33. How big is your door?Would you install a frameless hinged door again if you could do it all over again? Sorry for the barrage of questions. Thanks so much for your help. Hi Jeri Yes, I feel like it is a saga!!! I am ready for all but the color and because I have exposed hinges I must decide the metal too! The other problem I have is all along I felt I need to go whiter for this room deep in my gut! But then scared to have it look institutional... EVEN odder the KD that came yesterday ( I hired her for 1 hour) I found her on willows site somehow and she felt the whiter one was WARMER.. brighter but warmer. THe divinity was less bright but cool with the green/blue under hues... so that is what REALLY through me for a loop. My KD is ready to process my cabinets so I can have them in about 6-7 weeks and I am stuck here! BUt I hear everything you are saying.. I have thought ALL that.. but then I get my mom here too saying this room has no sunlight... you need to go whiter.. and since the white I have now is whiter and does not look too white... go with the brighter one...Today I will take all my colors to a store with hardware and tiles and that should help me make my decision... at least my KD suggested that. She probably things I am nuts for not being able to decide... if I had high ceilings and sunlight I would definitly choose divinity. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for all of the responses! As it turns out I'm going to be able to go to Ikea tomorrow so I will at least have this evening to hash this out. Thanks to all of your replies I have more things to consider and bounce off my brain. caligirl cottage - I'm going to order in person. IKEA is about 20 minutes from my house so it's not that big a deal to go there. The trick is finding a time during the week (when it's not crowded) that I don't have to bring my children with me. I have an opportunity tomorrow and I'm going to see what I can get done. I'll let you know how it goes. I agree with your point about the granites above with the carrara being too busy. I always think of carrara as being so serene that I forget that there really is a lot of movement with veining that would definitely compete with some of those granites. However, if I was ever to do granite it would be something green like the ones above. I love the concept of soapstone with a white marble because I think it is so classic and exactly evokes the look I want. Oddly enough, though, I HATE the feel of soapstone. It just scheeves me no end - like fingernails scraping a blackboard. (Which, incidentally, is a good thing because I can't afford soapstone.) However, I LOVE the look and feel of honed marble. Weird, eh? remodelfla- My floors will be natural red oak to match the rest of my house. I like the idea of a white backsplash but I think I'm stuck on the white marble for the perimeter. I just love the look of off white cabs with a white marble. rococgurl- Thanks for all of your comments. Just to give you more information, my goal with this remodel is to lighten and brighten a dark kitchen. I love turn of the century/vintage, cottage, and farmhouse styling. So, I guess I would say that my taste lies more in the traditional realm - as opposed to a modern one. I realize that IKEA cabs are very modern in general even if they do have some doorstyles that try to lean a little towards the traditional. I always see the Adel doors in more modern kitchens but I'm hoping to make them work in one that's more vintage inspired. Here are the rest of my inspiration photos that I've borrowed different elements from: The first 2 are from bunglogrl's kitchen. A link to her finished kitchen pics are below. (notice the crystal knobs) Different photo of same kitchen in previous post: The next 2 pics are from the same house. I love the white cabs with carrara but, in the second pic (the kitchen), I think it's a bit cold. However, in the first pic the little piece of white cabs with carrara look beautiful (imho) against the warm yellow with black accents. So...to give you all a complete picture (in case you don't already have one) of what I am envisioning I will run down a quick list: -Adel white perimeter cabs -Adel medium brown island -white marble on island and perimeter (so far anyway - busy taking in all of your comments into consideration around what to do about island) -crystal knobs and maybe crystal pulls -polished nickel faucet and fixtures (maybe rohl perrin & rowe or Grohe bridgeford) -off white subway tile with white accent backsplash (I would copy the backsplash in the first pic if I can find those accent tiles.) -Natural red oak floors -ss appliances -those warm yellow walls (I think it's BM Barley) -stained brown (similar to adel mb color) farmhouse table with wheatback chairs -Not sure of lighting yet - kicking around schoolhouse type lights, pendants in 3rd pic of this post, and/or black chandelier type like in the 4th pic w/the yellow walls (love that chandelier) or a combo. Ok - Like I said above, I'll have to bat around what I'm going to do about the island color\counter choice thing. Anyone else w\comments about that - please feel free to chime in. BUT --- rococogurl got me thinking about something else: Will I be able to pull this off with these door styles? I'm trying to approximate the adel doors with the doorstyle type in the last pic. Will the details carry this look or will it just look mismatched and odd. I haven't seen any other Adel kitchen like this or even any that are remotely traditional. They are always in modern settings. Am I forcing the issue here? Sorry to be long winded but I've been at this for a long long time (can you tell?) and I'm trying desperately to have the look I want within my budget. But please be honest. Sounds like you are dealing with my builder! They say the offer zero allowances - so if you pick outside of their picks you pay full price and then some with no reduction in price. P*$$es me off. But, I've managed to get much of what I want - I can be persistent when necessary. As for the granite - I picked it out here where I live (in CA) and then asked to have it shipped to AZ (where new build is). Then I did the "What? I can't believe you won't let me ship the granite I picked out to AZ. After all, I selected it from the local yard of the chain you use in AZ. And, (luckily for me) they don't have any in AZ, so whatever was I to do?" I paid (only) about $4,000 for 2 slabs of Alaska White, including shipping, so they did end up giving me some allowance but I don't know how much. Just something else to keep in mind when dealing with a PITA builder... everything that can be easily changed out I will be changing out. Standard lights going in, standard faucets, no BS (you don't need one for CoO), standard paint, standard door hardware, you get the picture. I have all my lights sitting here in this house and will hire someone to switch them out after close. This is because they were going to charge me twice retail for the things I wanted. Nah. I'm not that dumb. Thanks guys. Cheaper to buy it and hire someone if necessary, although most I can do myself. But countertops I didn't want to mess with having to have them pulled out. I agree with you on that one. I won't even go into the appliance or paint color issues! :) I will say I did learn you have to have a range/oven for a CoO. But all the appliances will be pulled after close. And the already out-dated stainless ;o) will be going in. And I have a construction loan like Bee mentioned. Maybe that is helping me some? Not sure. Think it's more that the sales guy is trying to the best of his ability to help me achieve the look I want for the house. It's the builder who lacks some flexibility. Good luck. As others have said - go look at your slabs. I got AW, which looks a lot like BA, because the BA out here was slightly pink. Delacatus looks similar too if the BA is pink where you are.
