Finally finished! Hubby's birthday quilt.

Well, his birthday was Oct. 19, so I didn't quite make it. As often happens, life got in the way! Anyhow, it's finally done. The pattern is Kentucky Log Cabin from Judy Martin's Log Cabin Book.

Don't even ask how many pieces are in this top...the border has 600-something squares alone! And with the exception of a couple of brown fat quarters, it all came from my stash.

That's gorgeous. I wish I'd seen that layout before I put my log cabin together. I know how much work that was and you are so brave to persevere. Good job.

Donna, You've done a marvelous job and it's a beauty! I saw this layout before the book was even printed and loved it then! Sooooo, how did DH like it???

You are amazing! I am so proud that you didn't sit and whine during your recover but were able to focus on the good things in life. What a beautiful work of art you created and it will surly encourage you mother that 95 is just to soon to go and not be able to enjoy your great quilt. Very nice quilting work. I used to do hand quilt all of my Queen size quilts. The ole neck will not allow me to sit and do this any more. The last two I had to send out to be machine quilted. I am pleased with the outcome of them. But just not the same look as a hand quilted one. Keep up the awesome work.

Lola I was so tired last night I actually had Kate's old thread open and I still couldn't get it to work. I refer to it often and I'm good with posting pics in the thread but since there were so many I figured the link would be a better choice. Well, it would have been a better choice if i could have gotten it to work LOL!! Thanks for the compliment, I wanted something on the subtle side since its for an adult not a child. Also the brighter side of the wizard of oz line of fabric is WAY over on the bright side and I don't think i could have gotten thru making it!!

He likes it a lot, Sharon! I named in Max's Log Cabins and put a picture of our Max we just lost on the label.

Donna, A work of art. Love the log cabin layout. Have not seen if before but surly will look for it.

That is stunning and the fabrics are wonderful together. I love Judy Martin patterns. They are not the simplest but they are beautiful.

It's gorgeous as all of your quilts are Donna!!! I love the fabrics. I agree Judy's patterns are well worth the trouble.

Thank you all!

MRG - I surprised him with it right after his BD even though it wasn't finished yet. Judy recommends using silverware trays to organize the pieces, but I used the "baggie" method LOL. I quilted it on my Hinterberg frame with my Juki machine.

Lois - he is a special guy! We've been married 28 years but have known each other since 1976. He's a rock - always calm in every situation. And he puts up with me, which is no small thing! :)

Just want to say I saw Donna's DH's quilt last night at our Guild's Show N Tell...it got a lot of "OOOO"s and "Ahh"s. It is spectacular in real life! It was done with such love, devotion and accuracy.
Donna you should be proud!
