WooHoo! Nicole - so glad to have you getting the ball rolling for the fall swap. Ajax sounds great. Last year CherylnPickering got us swapping in the parking lot of St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Pickering, and in the past years fall swaps we've been around the Oshawa area, but how about you connect with your easterly GTA newbies and maybe they can come up with a good location and then we can figure out a date. In 2005 we had it on October 1st; last year the date was September 24th - so our options are plenty with respect to an east GTA location and a good date for us all. Feel free to create a new thread on the Fall 2007 GTA East Tailgater where we can iron out the date and location - and I'll start ground layering plants that don't take to root division so I can brings some new things that are already rooted. I can't believe how well the rose of sharon twigs I got last year rooted and now are ready to come out of pots and into gardens - I'll leave them be until the fall in pots to bring them and a good supply of other rooted plants to bring for this fall swap. Hi ladies! Belated Happy Birthday Dee! Your package looks awesome! :) KYSusie--I didn't answer your ? re hair coloring either--I have done both. I tried a new stylist and I love my hair! She cut it so well that **I** can style it at home, and it looks great! Honestly, this is the best cut I have ever had, and she is worth every cent! (until the reality stricks me when I get the bill!) Well, a DGF and I went to our annual hen-party on Monday night, and she suggested that we eat at an O'charley's before we went. Now, this part of Louisville is typical middle-class suburbia--nice homes, etc.... Well, we had just started munching, and all of a sudden all h3ll breaks loose; there was a drive-by shooting in the parking lot (2 cars down from mine), and about 60 feet away from where we were sitting. Holy splumony! Talk about creepy. We're chowing salad, and here's this guy all red and holding his side sitting in front of my car. I think they caught the guys that did it; they had been on a 2 man crime spree, and decided to shoot someone. I told my bud that I'm going to have to stop going out to eat; remember the old man that died next to my table at the casino buffet? Scheech! And I forgot to tell you all--Rog's cousin's 12 yo step daughter went to her first dress-up dance on the 11th, and since her mom was at work, I got to help her get dressed and mess with her makeup. What fun!!! She is so pretty that it scares me, and she picked out a really pretty, long, black spagetti-strapped dress that was *not* tacky like so many are now. Her mom and I went back up to the school when mom got home, and we had a blast, hiding in the shadows, watching the dancers. G0d, these kids look so much older than I did when I was 12. Ack! It was sweet, and I was touched to be a part of her big night! :):) Rog and I went to an all day conference at the local World Trade Center for information on exporting from China. Really interesting stuff; makes me realize that I want to seriously research this option a bit further. I worked an art auction last night, and my old comnpany owner was there with his wife. Talk about awkward! We were nice to each other, but he can go p!ss up a rope as far as I'm concerned. Oh!! And I found out that my old boss is preggers; I guess she finally oops her hubby, b/c he definitely did not want another kid. Their DD is 10, so this should be fun! I'm glad I'm not there any longer! Pesky, you made me laugh with that story!! Actually his sister, his dad and I ended up 'giving' my son our entire night's sleep on his birthday, which was a school night for all of us. As I mentioned his sister drove him and 3 friends to a local party area (Coconut Grove for those who know Miami) for College Night which is every Thursday. They called her to come pick them up at 1 am(!), and of course I couldn't get to sleep till everybody was back home at close to 2 am. Then one of his buddies ended up staying over at our house since he wasn't in any shape to drive. Buddy started wandering around at 4 am, waking my husband up who then had to put him back to bed. Husband naturally couldn't get back to sleep...and wake up time for daughter and me is 6:15 am anyway. Yawn. When all was said and done nobody got much sleep but my son had a great and safe birthday! Tikanis - I know now why my back used to hurt so much (thinking about carrying the six 10-lb sacks of potatoes!) Here's a question for all of you re: our 2010 Census. Have you received yours yet? If so, how was it delivered? Even though I was home all day yesterday, no one bothered to knock on the door or ring the doorbell. It was not delivered by the postal service. I accidentally found the envelope on our driveway floor by the garage doors. Fortunately, the rain had ended, or it would have been reduced to confetti. Our whole street was done this way. I would not have noticed it if I hadn't been taking the trash can out to the curb. And yet the government stress how important it is to participate in completing the form. Foolish me - I just assumed it would be mailed to us, but just throwing it on the driveway like the daily newspaper is the last way I would think such an important document would be delivered. Is it just down here in the boonies this is happening?
