I bought two antique sideboards on ebay to convert into bathroom vanities. Both had marble tops. The more expensive one of the 2 got here in absolutely perfect condition, it was extremely well packaged. The other one arrived with the marble top broken, but it was the fault of the seller for not packing it well enough. It all comes down to the seller, and their feedback. My personal feeling is I don't buy things from sellers with less than 99.5% feedback, unless either the negs are more than a year old, or it's one or two negs from a relatively new seller. On the other hand, the second vanity I bought came from a fairly new seller with 100% positive, he just didn't have a clue how to pack something to be shipped to Hawaii. But since I got the piece for only $400 including shipping (birdseye maple french commode with bronze fittings), I didn't complain. :) The carpenters made a new wood top for it, and nobody knows the difference. I have ordered Daltile tiles from QualityFlooring4Less and had a good experience. I plan to order my next batch of tile from the company within the next few weeks. QF4L had the lowest price for Daltile Modern Dimensions I could find, and matched the lowest online price I could find for another Daltile product. Their customer service is proactive and helpful: When Daltile informed QF4L that one of the tiles I'd ordered had a monthlong production backlog but that the tile was available from some out-of-the-usual warehouse location and could be shipped to me for a fee, knowing that I was anxious to get the tile, QF4L gave the go-ahead to have the tile shipped and split the freight charge with me (an extra $15 to me). Later, Daltile would not release a box of tile to my installer, who was picking it up, unless he paid for the tile -- even though I'd prepaid my order. QF4L obtained a refund for me within two days and called to keep me updated. A few things surprised me about buying from QF4L: the fact that I had to pay state sales tax (because there is a Daltile showroom in my state and I was picking up from there) and the number of different names under which QF4L appears to operate. But I heartily recommend the company, and especially Mark and Dave, who were particularly helpful.

For me, going to pick out a tree is my favorite part of Christmas and finding “the one” is what it’s all about. Honestly, I’d rather have no tree at all then to have one from a box whether it’s fake or fresh. When we first moved to Michigan from Socal, I didn’t understand why people got their trees so early. My birthday is the week before and that’s traditionally when we’d go but that year, when we went to get ours, they were all frozen solid. My DH talked me into doing a fake tree but I really hated it. The tree was given away the next year and I told him never again. Cindy, I forgot you’re in LA, when we lived there we were pretty poor and couldn’t afford to buy one. Instead we’d borrow our neighbors three wheelers and go to the woods to find a tree, we’d even make all the ornaments for it. Those holidays are sweet memories for me.
