applying laminate counter top to cabinets

Hello to all, I've lurked here for a while and have encountered a problem I hope you can help us with. We're in the process of installing a summer kitchen in our basement. We bought a prefab laminate countertop with backsplash and have cut it down to the size needed. When DH placed counter on top of cabinets to see how it looked, we noticed that the countertop does not sit properly on cabinets. In fact it's bowed slightly in a few areas. For example, if you push down on front of counter (where it's approx 1/4 inch off of cabinets) then the back part goes up in the air (to approx 1/2 inch off cab top). DH is not happy, and we're afraid to glue in case this issue doesn't go away. Is this normal? We have tried weighting down the countertops with very small amount of success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
