Who is your favorite person other than family and friends? Hmmm...all my favorite people ARE Family & Friends.

What is the most important, best thing you have ever learned? That I am responsible for my own happiness!

As a Catholic, it would be hard for me to respond to this question without violating the "no politics/no religion" policy. Suffice it to say that Lent is not necessarily about "giving up something" but more about true conversion and making sacrifices to help others. Yes, "giving up something" is part of it, but if it only benefits yourself and only for a limited time, then the point is missed all together. JMO that maybe I should have kept to myself....

I have a lot of small collections that are usually stored in the attic. Vintage Pyrex - I have an attic full and I use some of it and decorate with some of it. Jars and tins of buttons, game pieces and dice. Cookbooks - especially community cookbooks. Cross stitch patterns and old knitting patterns. Vintage cross stitched pieces. Tea cups and saucers Character Royal Doulton figurines when I can afford them. Vintage board games and Springbok puzzles. Figural egg cups Porcelain/bone china with pink roses. Christmas decorations Brooches - and I wear them. My signature brooch is my Grandma's Scottish amethyst and silver thistle brooch. Old hardcover books - hand sized books. I also have all my childhood dolls and books and bits and pieces plus all my current event scrapbooks starting with the Apollo space missions. I also have every greeting card and letter given to me. I do avidly look for pieces that I can afford to add to my Royal Albert Poinsettia pattern china. Yesterday I decided I am going to start picking up some more cut crystal pieces for my living room because I do get a lot of sun and I love the prisms from the crystal and so does my cat Lucy. I have a few large pieces that I love. I love to collect dainty and feminine things. I guess I am just a girly girl and like nice pretty things. LOL Anne

Mostly pencils for me. I use them for making notes, doing Sudoku, writing addresses in my address book (then when someone moves I can erase their old address and write in their new one), and practically everything that doesn't require permanence. I use pen for documents, my signature, and the like. I am very particular about pens I use. I do not like metal ones because my fingers slip down right to the tip on the paper. I like a pen that has a rubber grip.

Not many traditions have survived from back then. We were a small family in those days - just Mom, Dad, my two brothers and one sister and myself. One aunt, Mom's sister. Mom's brother immigrated here from Ireland when I was about 7 with his family but we weren't that close. No grandparents. When we were very small we would go to bed and there would be no decorations up at all. Mom & Dad put up the tree, the train platform (two 4 x 8 sheets of plywood!) and the trains, cars, farm animals and houses that went with it after we went to sleep. This on top of the 'assembly required' gifts we received. We saw Dad take everything down after New Years every year, but gradually HE would start putting the train platform up instead of SANTA!!! 'Hey Mom, how come Dad's putting the trains up instead of Santa Clause?' "Well, it's because every year there are more & more children born into the world, and we have to give Santa a hand." Made absolutely perfect sense to me! My own traditions: Watching an old episode of Jack Benny doing his Christmas shopping. I have it on tape but PBS shows it here every year. I literally have seen it nearly 100 times and it's still funny. Dragging out and watching all the old VHS tapes of the kids opening their gifts on Christmas mornings, and blowing out birthday candles. The look in their eyes is the greatest thing to behold. I really miss those days! This year I'm hoping Santa brings me DVD burning equipment. It was on my list...... We usually go to midnight mass but I may do one of those 4:30 PM matinee's on the 24th this year. In the afternoon the whole family (MUCH bigger these days) will gather at my sister's house to compare notes and just get together. The holidays is one of the few times that we are all together at the same time.

What is the most important, best thing you have ever learned? To always treat others as I would want to be treated.

Is there anything bugging you right now? Yes If so what? That my 71 year old DH can work circles around my 18 and 24 year old grandsons!

Who is your favorite person other than family and friends? Out of family and friends? Um... a counselor at the facility my son is at that calls if anything goes wrong. He seems to connect with her.
How old were you 7 years ago? 34
What is the most important, best thing you have ever learned? That I am strong enough to take whatever comes my way.
Do you believe in happily ever after? Not without working at it, it doesn't just happen.
Do you ever feel like you're living in a music video? No, never.
Is there anything bugging you right now? If so what? That they won't just take my gall bladder out and I have to spend half of my day on tests tomorrow.
How many new friends have you made in 2008? Maybe 10 or so.
If you could change something that you said to someone, would you? Heavens yes, to more than one person also.
Have you ever done something that you thought you would never do? I eat sushi all the time and I love acupuncture. I remember a time when I said NEVER to both.
