I finally finished something!

I have been in a huge funk for quite a while. It's been all I could do just to get into the sewing room. But...I managed to finish this quilt for my brother in law for Christmas. It's Strip Twist by Bonnie Hunter. The pattern is at Quiltville.com.

We are having a humdinger of a thunderstorm this morning. Tornado watch till around lunch time. The emergency weather report urged everyone in the SeaWorld and Universal Studios area to get indoors. I had an interview scheduled downtown for 10:30 but fortunately it was moved up to 9 am. It was pretty scary driving home at the time I was originally scheduled to be heading downtown!

I'm just thankful to be home safe and able to hole up in the sewing room for the rest of the day. :)

I'm a little Southwest of you, maybe I'd better put on the radio or TV, didn't know it was that bad out there, it's just raining some. I like that quilt, I'm a big fan of Bonnie Hunter, love what she has taught on how to use scraps and I love to watch quiltcam.

Congratulations! Doesn't it feel good to finish something big like that? I tend to start a bunch of things then eventually get in a frenzy to actually finish things and catch up, then start a new bunch! :) Donna

Again... thanks so much to you all for the nice comments! I've learned so much from ALL of you... but most of all you've given me courage.. so thanks again. :) SLOW... I used ball chain for the edge.. can't remember who discussed it first.. but I really like the way it lays in so easily! Yes.. LOVED gushing on that thinset and pushing things into it! What fun! ANNIE... yup.. just slathered on the thinset and pushed in the stones and things... no grout needed I figured and I liked the rough look of it compared to the shell. BRENDAK.. he is all one piece. I'll take a picture of the new one that is undecorated tomorrow. Sailboat.... Thanks for the comments. Yes, I finally finished the mosaic part but wanted to do a smaller piece with grout before I tackle the boat. It's going to be black... except maybe for the very top of the sail where all of the glass is white... still considering that. Glad for suggestions! Also... now that I read MaryMary saying she's had problems grouting sea glass I'm thinking about NOT grouting the very bottom. More comments welcome! Katie

The is the En Provence mystery. It is "half scrappy". (That's a new quilting term!) The light and dark purples are scrappy, the greens as well. But, the magenta is all the same fabric, the background is all the same, and the lavender triangles around the center white square are the same.

Being in a funk makes it hard to do anything fun, but i think you did it.
I hope your work/job situation is resolved soon so you can get back to good times.

Donna, what a great quilt! I really like that one. I am also a fan of Bonnie Hunter - need to make that one.

Stay safe! DS and his wife are heading to Orlando tomorrow for their 1 year anniversary - hope the weather calms down!

Congratz on getting something completed, Donna.

We've been having storms all day long....it's a good thing we had a ton of programs recorded because DirecTV has been out for hours! And it's still out!

Glad you are home safe, Donna. And I hope the rest of the Eastern coast battens down the hatches.

It's a lovely quilt. I'm a fan of Bonnie Hunter as well and I'm sure your BIL will just love this one.

Like your quilt. Scrappy is one of my favorite and like the use of strips. May have to try that idea soon. Congratulations on getting it finished. TFS

Thank you all! It felt good to get something done.

It poured rain all day yesterday...I think we had around 4 inches. Today we are having gusty wind and more rain, and it's about 30 degrees colder than yesterday. I think I'll still make a run to JoAnn's for some BOGO thread. Quilting fabric is 50% off, too. Ã°ÂÂÂ

That's a great scrappy quilt, Donna. I have downloaded that pattern too and was just looking at it yesterday. I've seen in made in one color, but still scrappy. That was really cool too. Doesn't it feel good to get your mojo back?

Love it Donna! I have been in a funk too, I did manage to finish embroidering the names on stockings for a charity.

This past year didn't show me in my room too much. I'm going to make sure I'm quilting on NY's Day so I will be quilting for the rest of the year lol!!!!
