Do any of you live in the Everett Wa area

I was wondering if any of you live in the Marysville or Everett WA area and read about the 3 young men who were in a hit and run accident? My great grandson who was 18 was the one who was killed in Marysville last week. I had never met him only talked on the phone twice. You could hear laughter and happiness in his voice. He was a much loved young man, they are renting a hall for his funeral to accommodate his friends. The funeral has been delayed because of police investigation. He and his 2 friends were hit from behind by a drunken driver, they didn't have a chance. His two friends are fighting for their lives at this time. Very, very sad. A simple thing of walking facing traffic might have saved their lives. Sorry if this makes you sad, but it's all I can think of, such a waste committed by someone who can't control their drinking.

Gloria is right, of course. I think of a friend who has a husband who doesn't do much in terms of housework, yardwork, repair work, cooking, child care, etc. He does make the bulk of their income. I still think that I'd have a hard time living with him -- he does not seem to regard their home as partially his responsibility. I sometimes think that one of the reasons I'm single is that I expect a partner to make a significant contribution to the household. I'm flexible on what that contribution is -- I'd be happy for someone who was willing to pay for and coordinate yard work (or house work). But I've met many who expect to be picked up after and have their home life taken care of for them as above or they just don't care and are willing to live in a mess -- and I know I'm happier single than married to someone like that! Talley Sue, I am working on the thought that I need to make it easier for things to get put away. When I figure it out, I will let you know. Right now I have things cleaned up, but the usual pattern is for things to accumulate for a while, then get cleaned up again. I can only stand mess for so long. In general my house is reasonably neat/clean -- or at least never so embarrassing that I wouldn't let someone in to visit. Jean Marie

You could try some of the hardier palms such as those from the Phoenix species (Date palms), Trachycarpus (Very cold tolerant), Washingtonia (Cotton palms), Syagrus romanzoffianum (Queen palm or Cocos as it is known, is a weed in Queensland), Livistona chinensis, Livistona australis, Livistona decipiens, Sabal species. In shaded or sheltered spots Archontophoenix cunninghamiana (Piccabeen or Bangalow palm), Howea forsteriana (Kentia Palm), Rhopalostylis sapida (New Zealand Nikau Palm). These are all palms that are generally quite cold tolerant for areas in southern Australia. I don't know how cold it gets where you are but most of these palms should succeed if you can get hold of them. Andrew.

Lilyfinch, My problem is I have too many favorite foods! Pittsburgh does not have a single, specific, signature food. I would think a Primanti sandwich, with your whole meal held between two big pieces of bread, especially your French fries, is unique to Pittsburgh. You can get the fries put on the side, but the sandwich isn't the same that way. The best pierogies are homemade, then church pierogies. My cousin Deloris said the ladies at St. Jehosaphat's, claimed theirs were the best. Those dear, old time ladies are long gone. My Aunt Mary made the best pierogies. They were huge, about the size of 4 Mrs. T's pierogies. She used a large Crisco can as the dough cutter! No wonder! What memories! My mother couldn't make good pierogi's. She didn't have the touch! Hers fell apart at the seams, but they were still delicious. Oakmont Bakery cannot be matched. You can breathe in their cakes while you're eating their cookies, twice the joy, in half the time. That's the only way to do it! Eat n' Park has a senior lunch buffet on Tuesdays. I taught English at Colfax School in Springdale, PA, many years ago. I am very knowledgeable of the river towns along the Allegheny. Cheswick is a nice place to live. There is a productive Bald Eagle's nest in Harmarville, on the cliff above Freeport Rd., at the Hulton Bridge (newly built..recently opened). Bald Eagles have returned to the Pittsburgh area after a 150 year absence! There you go, Lilyfinch, a little stroll down memory lane for both of us! Keep well. Moses

Your candor is appreciated!! I felt any would work but was hung up for a couple of reasons. #1 is a downgrade Karastan and it shows with the sample but colors work. #2 is a better grade Karastan and that fact shows. Plus the colors give me many options with further purchases of another chair, draperies and accessories. #3 is interesting but is it too much? Maybe… My living room has red rugs and I thought , here I go again. But I keep coming back to #2 for its warmth, as Ida pointed out. Here is my front room with the red Karastan Kirmans.

Oh My Goodness....What a tragedy you are dealing with today. My heart always hurts when this kind of kind o needless tragedy happens. So very sorry for you loss.

Emma, I'm so sorry, how hard it must be to just not be angry at the senseless act.

My nephew is raising his family in Marysville and has a 16 yr old son. When I heard the news brief, I rushed to see ages, names only to be relieved. Now I'm grieving for you and your family. Again, I'm so sorry.

Yes I saw that, did you watch the video. It was like something from TV. You don't think of anything like that happening to your family.

Thank you again for your kind thoughts. I have talked to Shane's father, he appreciated that I had called his mother. I was the only one from my side of the family that has contacted with them and I had to join facebook to find them. I had Shane's phone number but the police had his cell for awhile.
