Hanging a 30 x 30 piece of metal art above my bed.

Hello, I am decorating my new apartment and want to hand a roughly 30' x 30' metal sculpture type wall hanging above my bed. I can't figure out a good way to hang it without screws or other attachments being seen. It's square and similar to wrought iron (not solid at all, most of the wall will be seen through it). Please give me any suggestions, I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance.

Can you post a picture of the art? That would help us give suggestions. How heavy is it? That also matters.

life insurance comes to mind! I would not hang something heavy over my bed.

Love it so much, I had to find more info. on it. It is an updated terrazzo "look". The large scale instantly made me think it was something "new". Googled around... lots of misses until I typed in large scale painted terrazzo floor. I also thought it might be something new and interesting done with inkjet printing for tile. Anyway, first link was for an article about terrazzo making a comeback only large scaled....at apartment therapy.... right there on the page, there it was...lol, it says in the text, "This is maybe a bit much, but there's something undeniably cool about this bathroom tiled in a designer terrazzo called Marmoreal by dzek." Haha... it being a bit much is exactly why I love it! It is called Marmoreal... and it is an engineered marble in resin... real marble. I followed the links and see that it is made in London.... also, got the feeling that it would be way out of my price range...yup. Found a cheese board made out of it..a stinking cheese board costs 250 bucks! I think RockyBird could do something absolutely fabulous with this Marmoreal for her new bath. This is a very rough and quick attempt to illustrate what I think both the previous comments are aiming that -- not the perfect solution, but the point is that the stuff on the dresser is badly arranged. You need two centres of interest, one clustering around the lamp (which shouldn't be so close to the edge) and one on the other side of the dresser. Hang the art between them. In this example, below, we are missing the taller item you need on the right to balance the lamp.

As long it is centered 35"x35" or a 40"x30". Also if you do two prints with the 30" wide you can have a 9" space between them.

Shelves, mirror & art above desk

First get your desk/vanity in place before you consider length/number/location of shelves. There is alot of info/examples on line in regards to height of shelves and art. Search Pinterest for “floating shelves in office” and “how to hang art“. There is info on sticker packages with max weight suggestions. If nailing, put a small piece of painters or masking tape across where you will be nailing, for a less invasive hole. For heavier art, see info on line and a neat hole is easy to fix, especially if you have leftover paint. It’s too hard to comment on decor at this point.

I stood in the hardware aisle for ages trying to resolve the same problem. I wound up purchasing two of the finger pulls for a window sash, and mounting them upside down on the wall so that the curved portion held the metal piece up. The piece I had had sort of a frame, so the bulk of the hardware was hidden behind the frame, and the curved portion blended in.

I can't get a picture because I don't know where my camera is... (I'm moving). However the art is similar in scale and construction to this, only it is square.

What type of hanger mechanism is in the back of the piece? I would not want something precariously hung over my bed.

It's a beautiful piece, but please don't hang it over your bed.

Even if it never falls, you will always know it might, and on some level, your sleep will be disturbed.

I have several iron pieces similar and they are super easy to hang. Use screws that have a large head and leave them sticking out from the anchor a half inch or so. Position them strategically so the wall hanging rests on them and if needed paint them to match the hanging.
Use heavy duty screw and anchors.

Hahahaha, when I read "above my bed" I thought you meant, on the ceiling above the bed. I thought, hmmmm, very interesting.

I used "L"-shaped screws. You screw in one leg and the other leg holds the piece a bit more securely than a straight screw. You probably won't find them in the wrought iron color, but you can paint them. If you decide to hang this piece over your bed, make sure at least one screw is screwed into a wall stud.
