I really like the Hampton Blue. I was out today and noticed a house near mine that has similar color brick to yours and went with blue siding. They also went with a slightly darker blue door (like navy) and I think it looks great.

Hi CW, you did a great Job suggested the color for nmatela, looks great, is any one can suggested me what color vinyl siding and what type trim, the current plane is replace all the window to be white with white wrap boarder. white gutters but not sure about other color. help. MR.

They said the wrap the house and they redo all of the window, door casings. I have replaced alot of individual shingles and painted some but fighting with woodpeckers and I tried it all to stop it its a lose lose. Vinyl is what everyone says to go to and the cedar shake vinyl is more for an enhanced look and resistant to fading.

In general I think Hardie board will be higher up front cost but I love the look. I almost used it on my last house but then decided to sell as- is. I was working with a company that used Hardie exclusively and they were pricey but did superb work, as we went to see houses they’d done. I think no other siding company in town were comfortable with installing, so, never recommended it. That also means you may be trying to align product and installer, so you aren’t getting a someone who grudgingly tried to install Hardie board , does a crappy job and installer saying, see, this is why I don’t like Hardie. So in some communities there would not be good competition from which to select and that effectively limits your options. If you get one of the factory painted ( Or however they do it) colors then there’s no initial painting cost of course. Supposedly the finish lasts something like 10-20 years- I’d have to re-check that. You wouldn’t want to use the painting advice from a vinyl salesman since vinyl , “ never needs painting “is their baby. Then of course Hardie co. may skew too optimistic. It comes down to some budget choices and priorities and maybe your home’s style and your “ environmental norm”. If you locate a Hardie specialist to talk with, see if you can get some reference addresses to drive by.
