How does Thomasville's "Benjamin" sofa compare to the Handcock and Moore Sofa? Has anyone had any personal experience with how the "Benjamin" sofa holds up? I am looking at it in "double fudge" leather, which is a semi-aniline leather with a mottled finish. I am wondering how the leather will look in a few years. Currently, I am looking for a nice family room leather furniture set that is very comfortable. What kind of spring system does the Handcock and Moore sofa have? I have 8 way hand tied springs on my living room sofa, and they are very comfortable. Thomasville's sofa has a sinuous spring. Will it be comfortable and hold up well long term? Also, will the piping around edges on the top and the bottom of the cushions on the "Benjamin" sofa hold up long term and be comfortable? Is there a Hancock and Moore or other sofa that is similar to the "Benjamin" Sofa color and style wise? Thomasville's "Benjamin" sofa has piping around the seat cushions. I have heard that that wears through quickly? Is that correct even with a good quality leather? Does anyone know anything about "USA Leather" sofas that have individual pocketed coils in the seat cushions and have a down topper pocket sewn in the top of the cushion on the inside. I think that the pocketed coils sit more firm, which I don't like, generally like foam core cushions, but don't like the way the leather looks stretched out on foam cushions. Is there a way to prevent this in foam core cushions? Also, I would like to re-direct my current sofa to another room in our home. The leather is faded but not worn through. Is there a way to dye the leather back to it's original color again. It was not a very expensive sofa and was made by Leather Trends/Leather Mart. It did not have piping, and the edges have held up very well. It is just the color of the leather--fading issue that is the problem. The color is "picasso brandy," which is kind of a browned burgundy. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I can do to make my sofa set look a little better color wise?

Boy was I glad to find out that the first mattress my husband and I purchased (2 years ago) as newly-weds, the gel memory foam, is free of PDBF/Formaldehyde and it is made in the USA. The reason we purchased this mattress was because it helps alleviate pressure-points which was crucial for us to have considering that my husband had recently underwent back surgery. In the two years we have had this mattress, he is still pleased with this purchase; and needless to say, so am I. I understand that comfort is a personalized type of thing, and being that I myself prefer a "in-between/medium" support (not too hard, not too soft), this was a great buy. We live at an altitude of about 5K, so in the 2 years we've had this mattress, the gel portion of the mattress is a bit more stiff when not in use during the winter, then eventually softens up with the applied body-heat; and during the passer-by summers, it is continually soft. Any workable solution that you decide on will have a price to it. The deck boxes are not expensive. You have invested in your cushions, and now you must go the further expense or effort to keep them. My SIL insisted on putting the cushions away back in the boxes that they came in. The result was that they never got used when you had to unbox them each time you wanted to use them. That was absurd! And, they still had to be stored somewhere. If they are not in a place where you can use them easily, they will not get used. There are really only two solutions, either bring them inside or put them in an outdoor box. Even those cushions that are made of drain dry materials take some time before you can use them and they are not impervious to mold. We had an outdoor box out on the deck that was not expensive, at all. Even then it got bugs and spiders that took up residence and it took up floor space. Eventually, I opted for chairs that do not require cushions and got rid of the box. Sometimes there is no perfect solution. Every option will come with either inconvenience or expense.

Thank you justgotabe me and kjmama. I forgot to say this is all on a budget. :) What we are trying to do is construct a large firm pillow. Right now the kids have an impromptu crash area in the L of our sectional, and just throw down our throw pillows (LOL). What we want to do is make a bigger, slightly better area down in the actual playroom. So they won't get the idea that crashing is what we do in the nicer areas of the new house. We won't have a mattress under the duvet "pillow". (Too $!) One of our daughter's occupational therapists (they actually came up with this idea to encourage her physical development) said maybe we could get extra odds and ends of foam from a foam company. Not sure how to do this...? Any other suggestions? I know this sounds off-topic, but it really is part of our decorating. Thanks! Amy
