Quartz Countertop placement/quality...your opinion
Comments (23)Great job, Trebuchet! Thanks everyone. My husband contacted the owner today, and lo and behold he's on vacation! Surprise, surprise. So he had to talk to #2 in charge, who was the guy I originally talked to when I signed the estimate. They gave my husband many excuses as to why the seam had to go there....mainly that the countertop is heavy and it would not have been possible to maneuver it over the half wall with the moulding that sticks out an inch, or some such nonsense.. I could have had that moulding easily removed, if they had taken the time to call and ask me, He never said why they did a poor job on the seam in the first place. I think you guys are awesome, and many of you were "right on" with the end result. I've learned a lot. Hopefully, my backsplash will outshine the seam and make it less of an eye sore. Put a fork in it, ladies and gents, 'cause I am done!...See MoreIs this seam placement acceptable?
Comments (7)I assume the 63" is the peninsula. I have never seen a seam run across the peninsula like that. That would give me doubts about the installer. My installer won't seam in the corner either. Mine is 4" from the corner of the peninsula. Maybe that seam placement will prevent a second seam behind your sink....See MoreDoes this quartz countertop seam look okay?
Comments (20)Hi Everyone! Thanks again for all your input and support! This board has been tremendously helpful for all its infinite wisdom and advice that it provides. So helpful to get a sanity check from people who've been through this process and who work in the field to set my expectations straight (thank you oldryder and Jospeh Corlett!). mayflowers-- no, they did not use a seam setter to pull the slabs together. I've seen pics of your seam and am envious. I didn't even know about seam setters until after the counters went in and I started looking up old posts about seams on this board. In this case, I just went with the fabricator that my contractor recommended. If I ever find myself doing another kitchen renovation, I will be sure to research more into the techniques used to join the seams. I know my seam is still visible, but I'm at peace with it (either that or i'm just so done and over my remodel that I want to move on-- ha!)....See Morewill these seam placements look okay?
Comments (6)I’ll cut to it and let you know that you’re going to be told that quartz isn’t an appropriate splash to put behind your range and that it won’t withstand the heat. As to your seams....if that’s all the fabricator can do with the material you have, what are you hoping for? It likely depends on whether your quartz has veining whether those seams will look okay, and that will depend on the pattern match....See Moresjhockeyfan325
