What Color To Use...oh me!

Still can't decide what color to use...HD picked out gorgeous walnut leather (2) sofa with reclining ends and HIS matching overstuffed (don't tell him, but I sit in it when he's at work) recliner. All have electric recline with hidden buttons...beautiful furniture.

Problem you say...not with furniture, but how do I decorate around it? Walls are off white with brown feather like strokes, eight windows with white blinds, blue background rug...and room flows into dining room..would like to coordinate the two rooms as much as possible without being totally matchy matchy (is that a real word) hardwood floors, still using big screen TV (next on the list to replace) dark fireplace...have to keep antique desk (looks good)...suggestions, sorry no pics haven't figured out to use the camera yet

It sounds pretty decorated to me? Are you looking for wall hangings, new rugs, paint, etc? If you want some color you could add throw pillows on the couch. Just about any color you like would work with the neutral colors you already have.

If you like the blue rug you already have, you might try to find a similar color to put under your dining table and chairs. I recently heard blue shouldn't be used in a dining room because it kills the appetite. I'm seriously thinking this could be the latest great diet! I've seen a really elegant dining room in blue and cream that sure wouldn't hurt my appetite any (checkbook maybe, but not appetite).

So interesting to think about the implications of lighting - I will definitely have to play around with different bulbs! Gracie01, the art is actually a 4 piece panel (antique, Chinese, gold w multicolor cherry blossoms, birds, etc) I agree that's not showing as such on the monitor. Pillows are gold in same fabric as chair on opposite wall. Second set of pillows has a creamy background with green-ish geometric pattern - again, absolutely agree it's not appearing that way at all through these pics. I'm realizing that part of my issue is that I never really wanted yellow walls to begin with, and sort of let the painter (whom I actually think is great) influence the decision to do this Greenmount Silk. I'd actually prefer something like a BM Gray Mirage at 50% or so...as it is, the blue against the yellow still looks garish to me. I don't want to change the window treatments, unfortunately, as they were custom made for this space, and price-y. I really appreciate all of the helpful suggestions!

All these people who are recommending you select a color for the doors so they don't stand out are simply mimicking something that is often said on this forum. Do you really think your home looks better with a color selected from the stone? I don't. Garage doors have to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes they need to blend in and sometimes they need to command attention. I can't believe you hid the balance of the house in your first post. Very important info. I'm assuming you don't want to restain the siding. It would be nice to get a decent accurate picture of the siding instead of the sideways view. It's a great color for your home. The bright green trim is the problem as has been already stated. All the windows should be painted the same color. Sometimes window frames blend in and sometimes they contrast and stand out.

A very popular LVP is Coretec’s Calypso. There are many thread talking about it. The color seems consistent. i have Hayes Oak in my Florida home. Color is uniform. The shadowing is not as prominent in real life.

Just can't quite put my finger on it...the windows need dressings...guess I've been watching too much HGTV room staging...and as they say, "the room just doesn't pop" it just has nice furniture in it...no real gott cha, kinda blagh! I'd really like a big ole black and brown woven western type rug, a rock chimney and hearth instead of a prefab gas log wanna be fireplace, big and bulky lamps instead of left over brassy things and big horsey pictures....ooooh I see it now....I really want Cabin Style....with a little umph! So how do I do all of this on my budget...that's another post isn't it? I can hear it now, "your never satisfied!"

If you're in an area with lots of thrift shops you might start by shopping them. Just keep going back and you just may find what you want, even though it may be one piece at a time. Also check out your local newspaper or Craig's list.

Now as far as the fireplace goes, you may have to live with your gas logs--which I would like anyway. But you might find a rustic mantle to put above it.

I don't know that anyone is totally satisfied with the way their home looks. There's tons of stuff I'd LIKE to do, and every time we do one thing, I find two more things I'd like to change. So put me in the same category as "never satisfied" if that's what it means! LOL!!
