Mine both needed to be plugged in. The plumber and electrician knew exactly what to do without me fiddling with their usual work. Is there some reason you don't trust yours? No judgment. Just asking. It seems you have a builder, electrician, and plumber to be worrying about these issues.

Most garbage disposals are setup to be hard-wired into a junction box and controlled by a wall-mounted switch. But, almost all can also be ordered with an accessory-style power cord kit which will allow it to be plugged into an outlet.

Tell the builder what you want - then let him do his job. If he's good, at that point you should be done until you're ready to test it.

Mine is plugged in too. There's an outlet under my sink. It is controlled by air switch

breezy, for some reason I have a hunch that they have never seen an airswitch. Remember....I think they are shocked about a "white" kitchen. I'll just mention it again in passing that the GD needs to be a plug in type.

I'll make sure to buy the right one when I purchase the 2nd one.
