Which comes first: new counters or paint cabinets?
Comments (4)Thanks for all the replies! While the cabinets are currently the more visible and space-occupying part of what I want to change, I can see where doing the counters first makes a lot of sense. Not only will they be more of an investment, but they are not as changeable as the cabinets. I would think it easier to paint the cabs to go with the counter, than the other way around. Also replacing the counter would create more physical trauma than the paint....See Morewhich comes first counters or cabinet that goes to the counter?
Comments (4)My marble went in first, then my hutch cab (to the counter) was installed. My cab maker had to come back and put the toe kicks on and do some other work so it was no big deal to install the cab after. He always planned on that cab going in after the marble. There have been a few threads on this over the past couple of years. A couple of people have had the cab carefully installed at the time of the rest of the cabs, and then had their fabricators carefully slide the counters in underneath. Watching how my stone is installed, I'd absolutely wait if possible both for a perfect fit and to avoid accidental damage to the cab from the stone. My cab perfectly sits on the counter. No gaps anywhere. I just can't imagine that would be possible if it went in before the stone....See Morewhich counter top do you like
Comments (31)Thank you for all the help. I have read over the older threads and it has given me a lot to think about. These were helpful and thank you for posting them. I really liked the trash bags on the counter idea to see how it would look. Can anyone explain to me the difference in honed or leather Absolute Black? The leather Absolute Black would give it the rustic look we want. rgps can you tell me which quartz that is. Soapstone would be my number one choice but it really is not an option. Soapstone looking quartz could look very nice. RightDi I don't know the name of the granite slab, but I can find out tomorrow to let you know. Thank you for your help....See MoreProgress - next step counter top install
Comments (6)Looking at the photos again reminds me that we need to figure out how to finish the microwave cabinet. Lol..right now it has a drawer front attached to a forvarva drawer, but it's sitting on the drawer to low. There is also another drawer that was bought to go in the pantry sitting on the shelf above the lower drawer. I have a 5" drawer front, but we think we may just put a 15" there instead. We will definately replace the bottom drawer with a maximera. I didn't put it there because the drawer is my dish towels and dish clothes. But maximera's are easier to install and are worth the extra $ over all....See Moreannkh_nd
