Combining retractable doors w/non-retractables in builtin cabinet

We are wanting a built-in cabinet entertainment center built. The middle cabinet will hold TV equipment, so we'd like it to have retractable doors (so we can use the remote and leave it open). The cabinets on either side will just have normal doors. The cabinetmaker said that the middle cabinet's two doors will be smaller than the other doors since they have to retract into the cabinet. Is there any way to avoid this? We do not want the doors to be flush, or inset or whatever, which is one way that the cabinetmaker said they could match. Short of that, is there any other way to make all doors match?
