I don't think I've ever seen such a hairy flower, Jodi! (Not counting the Venus Flytrap.)

Susan, I too was surprised to find that little beauty. I've hiked the local trails for quite some time now and had never seen this flower. And it is indeed quite hairy.

That's an interesting flower, Jodi. I did a little research and learned it's rare in its range and is "moderately threatened." Very good sighting. Glad you got a picture of it.

Here's one that isn't rare--Persian Sheild. Thanks to Kat for doing a little research for me, I was able to keep this one alive in the garage over the winter. It's just now leafing out, and the color is so vibrant. I just love it.

Jodi.....There's a trail half way up the mountain across the canyon ....behind our house. (it's natl. forest & it has a trail head). We sleep with the sliding glass door open at night. One night about 2:30m there was a guy crying his eyes out, moaning and yelling....why did you leave me Ramona! Why? Why?

Freaky thing to wake up to!!!!!!! :0)lol

I'm not sure I'd be real crazy about living near a trailhead. I'm a little too territorial for something like that. But it sure would be nice to have a national forest in my backyard. Wow!

It's too far away to be a problem...really. The sounds just echo...being across a canyon. :0)

I think Ramona left him because he closed the bars down @ 2am, then hikes trails in a drunken stupor! :0)

Then there's the guys with headlights on their mountain bikes that ride the trail around 10pm. We see little specks of moving lights waaaaaaaaay in the distance, zig-zagging along. :0) lol

I left him because he was a songwriter who did his best work in the middle of the night. He's not a very good singer, and his attempts always sound like moaning and crying. He's also loud. My new boyfriend is an accountant.
