I don't like to photograph flowers in bright sun, but I go along with whatever the butterflies want. Easy to see why they love the upward-facing tithonia.

A new little garden I added to the backyard this morning. The little red rose bush was a "giveaway" from my local nursery. They had a bargain bin to choose from - things mostly given up on for this year. But the little rose bush looked to be in pretty good shape and it has bloomed quite nicely in the past few weeks since I got it! And the bonus is that it has a great scent to it!!!

A huge mystery vine in the compost pile. Cucumber? squash? pumpkin? gourd? Guess I'll have to wait to find out. Only one big bloom ready to open so far, with a bunch of others coming on.

This little guy hops around our yard every morning and often in the evening. This morning he's making his way to our neighbour's garden. At the top left, you see his tail, as he's running out of my line of sight. Think of it as a hidden critter game :-)

One had to catch up, but he seemed to be having a good time (projecting my feeling on it).

We have been visiting here every few years for almost 30 years. First time we've ever seen these here. usually we see them in Custer State Park, and didn't this year. Always a treat to see them.

Alisande, did you notice the "smiley face" in the eye of your butterfly pic of today? It's there. Here it is a little clearer in a pic of the Fritillary that I took a few years ago.

Jim, wasn't the Tampa Zoo where the orangutan recently escaped and had to be tranq'd and returned to her habitat?

Great pictures today. I love all the colors. So beautiful.

That is the place where it happened. The animal had climbed up a tree within the enclosure, and worked itself to another tree and then just dropped in with the visitors. So got freaked, and others took photos. The animal was tranquilized and returned to the enclosure. I really hope it happens again, it will really increase attendance.

Gorgeous lupins, Casey. We saw masses of lupins on Prince Edward Island when we visited there several years ago, just one of the features that made the island so very beautiful! Even the horses and cows in the fields seemed to be placed for maximum visual effect! Lol!

I also thought Jim's giraffe looked like it was wearing a hat, but the hat was off center
