There is no way in you know what, that I am going to defend what this woman did to me. She did not have dementia (my Mom had Alzheimers so I know it all too well). Even if she may have "forgotten" I gave her money, when I said it was for the sectional in her formal living room, all it would take is a glance to realize something wasn't right. And again, I know fabrics so I would not be fooled by something old and rotted. I am not a cheap CL shopper. I always offer a lower price, just like at the Antique shows (read Brimfield - love it) because that is what is expected. I do not, would not, ever low ball an item so as it is insulting. There is nothing in this world that I need that badly that would cause me to do that. That's what us" do onto others" do. Getting a 12 X 12 sectional reupholstered would be cost prohibitive in my area. I wound up buying a new one. lower range, from one of a New England chain (Bobs if you are from here - they have 50 stores so fairly well known). I know their stuff is not top notch, but we never ever use it. Honestly don't know why I even bought one. If I bit off my nose a bit, honestly it was well worth it. Looking at that thing everyday would make me cringe, that someone could lie so much, the loss of money meant less to me. I hate that I fell for her "need to downsize" crap. Re returns on CL - I don't care what it is, if you have been purposively deceived, you have a right to expect that person to accept it back. And if they won't you have every right in the world to be PO'd. I have purchased other items and never had this problem. Actually the new sectional is turning out to be great. Now we all have someplace to put our luggage on!!!

We've got a 10' Nanawall on order and should be delivered (from Germany) in early November.. One thing that bit us with any of these 'big' doors is the lead time.. Nanawall and pretty much all of the others we looked into (including Marvin, Jeld-wen,etc) all had >10 week lead times.. Our Nanawall has a 13 week lead time and the ordering process can be very SLOW (the overall ordering process to get in the queue took somewhere between 2-3 weeks).. However, I believe their product is superior in terms of the hardware compared to the others -- all of which appear to use the SAME hardware for the locking mechanism which is made by one company. In our case our Nanawall is a bit over $10k for the 10' wide opening. Also because the top of the Nanawall is taller than the typical door, you might want to revisit the door height. We decided to increase the overall door height by several inches to have a door that looked 'normal' in terms of height (making us frame for a 7'3" rough opening).. Also, at least for the Nanawall, the majority of the door hangs from the header above the opening and there can NOT be more than 1/4" deflection in the beam over the width of the opening or you WILL have problems with the door.. We had to increase the beam size to accomodate this and do a bit of ceiling joist notching because of the odd height (after the structural engineer had his way) One other comment -- at least for us, if we use an authorized installer, it will extend our warranty for 1 extra year (to a total of 11 if I recall)

Thanks everyone. Well, I found out that J & K cabinets (a large RTA cabinet distributor) had a local dealer not too far from me, (Global Home Products in Beltsville, MD) so I called them and they actually had the size and color vanity I wanted in stock. The price was $199, and assembly was only $10, for an all wood, painted white shaker style vanity. Even the center panel on the doors was solid wood --a true reverse raised panel (almost every RTA cabinet seems to use MDF for the center panel!) The cheapest, similar, special order cabinet from Home Depot or Lowes would have been between $300-400 (American Woodmark or Kraftmaid, etc.) I checked with Barker cabinets and they were quite expensive in comparison. When I got to the dealer, I was surprised to see what a large showroom they had and how busy they were, even on a weekday afternoon. I believe that all their cabinet lines were RTA, and they had very good prices. The display kitchens and vanities looked very nice. The place seemed to be run mainly by Chinese people, ( a little hard to understand their accents, but very nice and helpful) so I imagine they don't have any problems communicating directly with those factories that make their cabinets over in China if they need to! Anyway--I'm glad that I had them put the cabinet together, as when they opened the box there was some minor damage to the face frame part. So they used the face frame off the identical vanity that was on their showroom floor and were able to assemble my vanity. It does look gorgeous--esp. the doors. Even the back is solid plywood with wood bracing. I suppose that makes it more sturdy, but it will be more work for my husband to drill holes for the plumbing. Hope this helps someone else who might be wondering about RTA cabinets.

We've had three 45 " wide x 80" tall PELLA doors/windows with internal blinds - one sliding door flanked by two matching windows. I use them frequently. Up for full glass, down and flat, at a slant or fully closed depending on the sunlight. They've been in for almost 9 yrs. with no problems. I don't think changing the blind would be a problem, the interior glass is a panel that swings open if necessary. Very well insulated and they block exterior sound. And I don't have to dust them.
