How to frame for drywall ceiling drop in Cathedrall roof Bathroom

Hi, I have a cathedral style roof that i want to create a space for better air circulation by lowering the ceiling. What would be the best way to frame for a flat drywall ceiling? (not interested in drop ceiling system for tiles or drywall)

Can I do it with 2x4's or do i need a minimum 2x6's?

Should I notch studs on top of top plate on lower side and bolt a beam level with that to studs on the other wall? Or any other options?

Thanks for your time in advance.
