I like a little bit of each of your different options. I love your view, by the way. I would put the curtains on the rod, hanging straight down, then with small tiebacks, to show your gorgeous view. (If you want tiebacks.) When you pull your curtains to the center and then tie them back, they look a little skimpy to me...probably have to add another pair to the window if you want to do that. JIHO.

I think white works well, esp since the trim it's against is white. I personally like them not pooled on the floor.

As for using the rings and tie backs, that depends on whether you are going to keep them open all of the time or close them sometimes. If you are keeping them open with or with out tie backs, then you probably don't need the rings (and not using them will keep them from pooling on the floor, since they'll be slightly higher then--but again, that's merely my preference).

If you want to open and close them at leisure, then I would use the rings if it's difficult to slide them on the rod.

They make the room look light and breezy and perfect for summer!

after searching here.. I think I'm inclinded to lower the rod slightly - and have the curtains just touch the floor. That way, when I clean and stuff, I don't have to worry about fixing low they lay. With that said... I'll get rid of the rings, which make the curtains pool.

Only consideration is to have them straight vs tied back!

Looks nice and doesn't block your great view.

Since you have wood floors, I would hang them so they just clear the floor, otherwise they become dust bunny collectors!!!!

Tinker, you have hit on the perfect solution: lower rod so panels just touch the floor without puddling (doesn't work well w/ sheers anyway). Hang them straight. Sheer perfection!

They are up, I'll post picture tomorrow! It's evening, and it does make the room much more cozy. They are sheer enough that the water view isn't blocked too much.... I'm tired, going to watch TV!

And here's another option--even though I see you just got your curtains hung to your liking a few minutes ago. Oh, well. Maybe this will be helpful to the next person with the same dilemma.

Tied-back sheers can look skimpy, but hung flat, they can be boring. Doing it this way gives them a little more sructure than hanging flat, but still keeps them airy enough no to look too heavy. To keep the folds even, I tie clear fishing line at the right distance between rings. That makes them hang perfectly instead of all bunching up on one side and stretching too far apart on the other side. I hate when that happens.

magnaverde!! I love this look.. are they on rings (I can't see rings). I hate how ties can bunch up, but the fishing line is a great idea. My curtains are hung... but this gives me another option to try. I certainly have been know to do finish something, only to take it apart and try something else! So please let me know how they are hanging on the rods!

The main thing I didn't want to do is block the water view. I left the windows naked for the past four months.. and although I loved the wide open view, I open felt the house felt a little naked, and un-lived in. I like the open weave linen, they are sheer enough not to block the view much, but last night and this morning, it made me feel like I had a shirt on..lol.
