laying in finally

I finally got my quilt top marked and everything ready to lay in for basting. My husband hauled the 10 foot frames from the storage below; I found a good deal on a high loft batt at Good Will-($1.50) for queen size; and I decided on setting up in the great room--only place I could create a large enough space.

I was slow to remember exactly how I did things, but finally got it. My husband agreed to help me--he pushed the needles down, I was underneath pushing them back up. I should have selected needles with bigger eyes for the basting. I took forever to thread all the needles. Anyway, we got it done in time to take everything down before dinner.

I thought I would show you a pic of the set up and a closer shot of the clamps that hold the frames together.

This process is faster and more fun when you have a group doing it though I was always the underneath person.

How many of you have done laying in this way?
