Really? Wow. We saw him live a couple of years ago, a very funny man.

He was one of the best stand-up comedians.

I can listen to his routines over and over.

He sure had some great words of wisdom as well. RIP, Mr. Carlin

We just saw this on the news....he was our favorite comedian. So sorry to hear of his passing. We have been waiting for the next time he came to the comedy and magic club here to see him. DH is so bummed!

RIP old wise man.....your humor and wit will be greatly missed, there is no other like you!

RIP you dirty old man. I loved Carlin and imagine he is upstairs telling his routine to a heavenly audience. You were always one to just say it the way it was no matter what.

He will be missed. Was he ill?

RIP you told it like it was. I remember him on the Johnny
Carson Tonight Show many moons ago. Very talented man.

I am old enough to remember the "Hippy Dippy Weatherman" from the Smothers Brothers show. He was one of my favorites. His comedy made you think. He will be missed.

He sure could dazzle you with his oratory. Wordsmith is a good way to describe his talent with words. What a funny man.

This is sad news.

Good journey, George.

Loved George. RIP.

RIP George.

He will be missed.

This was a shock to me. I liked George Carlin a lot. Great wit and an amazing mind. He was a good one.

I was bummed when I heard that this morning too. I loved his way with words, and how he was so blunt. He told it like it was. I'll miss him too.

Who could EVER forget the SEVEN words you can't say on TV and the Hippy Dippy Weatherman!!

DH & I really liked him. RIP George. I also heard that Dody Goodman died today. You have to be old like me to remember her. Seems like so many have passed recently doesn't it? :-(

My husband once dated his daughter. My brush with fame-I matrried a guy who once dated George Carlin's daughter. I remember seeing him on TV a lot in the 70's. He was on Saturtday Night Live(as host) I think.

We loved him in our house. My brother and I used to sit around and listen to Bill Cosby's comedy albums but I had to leave the room when he was listening to George. I remember the time I got a hold of one of his albums. I laughed and laughed. I though I would get in to so much trouble. After that he became a constant in our house. We tried to watch him whenever we could.

Go George - keep tellin it like it is!!!

Very sad.

Epitome of comic genius!

George, Al Sleet and the rest will be missed. I truly respect someone who isn't afraid to be blunt even if a few overly-sensitive prudes are offended.

What else can I say? I know, S/P/F/C/CS/MF & T! At least we live in a time when his humor can live forever to keep us not just laughing, but as importantly, thinking. On to a bigger audience, George. RIP.

I liked him not only because he could be as un-PC and foul-mouthed as any of them (which, although I'm no prude, I tend not to enjoy), he could also perform many "clean" routines, e.g., the one they played frequently this afternoon on the radio about the differences between baseball and football. Sounds like he had a life well lived, from an interview a few months ago.
