Almost bought some flannel to make DGS pjs today.

But then I decided I needed to be happier with the flannel print. He's 3 1/2 and loves dinosaurs and big trucks, and WalMart had two such flannels. By the time I located a pattern, I decided I did not like the flannels that much after all. So I will look around for a print I do like.

In the meantime, I need to hear from whoever it was that made her DGD some cute pjs with white tshirt tops.

Who did that here, and what did you do to the white tshirts to make them match the pjs? I don't remember.

Oh, that's terrible about the fruit. They must've needed to make jam really, really bad. Well I think maybe it's time for me to put a pin down into the hole of my gates. If anybody steals my gourds I'm going to be incredibly hacked off! One of the problems is that the park outside our back fence is lit all night. They are gracious enough to have disabled the street light that is only a few feet outside my back gate and that used to shine into my windows. If that was lit all the time then people would be able to see everything in my yard very well. I had a friend who lived out on the edge of town and had a couple of acres that had her garden totally stripped one summer -- in the night while they slept. The dog didn't even hear them but there were lots of shoeprints in the dirt, like maybe there'd been several out there picking. One of the neighbors said they saw a white Suburban on the road during the night at a time when normally the only traffic down there is people who live there. But I still don't know why a person would take soybean pods that weren't even totally filled out yet -- DH thinks it might've been birds (?) But birds go to bed at night, don't they? I suppose something could've been out there yesterday afternoon when I wasn't out there and I easily might not have seen anything back there. We have doves that visit the yard. I don't know if they'd eat the soybeans pod and all ?? I'm thinking I might go look up that website from the other thread, to look at that camera. There have been lots of times when I could've used one. DGS had a few days where kids came up under the carport and egged his truck and wrote things on his windows. He sat in the office and watched out the window and nearly caught them one night, about midnight. But he didn't recognize them. I felt like he should've sat there and watched them till he knew who they were, but that's his precious truck and he just wanted them to go away so he ran out the front door yelling and they ran away. It would've been nice to have a camera then, so we could share the pictures with the police. Even if DGS had recognized them, it still would've only been his word against theirs.

Oh wow, so it's universal?!?! We first noticed the Jammie Generation a couple of months ago. We were doing a little shopping at Kroger when Jenny suddenly tugged at my shirt sleeve and whispered excitedly in my ear; Joey, Joey, is that couple in their pajamas?!?! After a teeny bit of sleuthing it was obvious, yes! Hey, I'm not talking about warm comfy sweats or something semi sleep wear, I'm talking about obvious thin and sheer PJ's complete with fuzzy lined house shoes. Since then the pajama thing has lost its surprise factor as there will usually be a few folks choosing that attire on any given morning. Also, this wasn't a tweenie/twenty something couple. Pushing 40 if not over.. real, real tacky! I freely admit to a double standard concerning the pj patrol. Youth is beautiful in any attire and almost any fad, wear the pajamas! When you're in your 40's and choose to walk around the store in your pajamas? You're trying too hard my friend and you just look stupid. Unfortunately I've seen a few guys my age in the pajamas. Geez. Honest, if I were to complain about the twenty-somethings walking around the store in their pajamas it would be from envy because I can't get away with it.

Love flannel sheets now but for years I wouldn't put them on my bed. We had those pink or blue striped Ibex flannel sheets when we were kids. The first time I put flannel sheets on my bed I had just started using a feather bed, and I had new fleece pjs on and then a duvet. I went to bed feeling nice and cozy and then not 20 minutes later I was throwing all the covers off including my pjs. Too hot hahaha. Now i love my flannel sheets, I have a few sets and even use them in the summer time. I also love my micro fibre sheets. They are so cozy and not hot at all.

I haven’t had time to fully digest the comment about solid color dresses looking ’queenly’. However, I really love a solid color dress for wearing to a wedding. Mtn said 90% of the time it’s best and maybe that is a good number, idk. I think a print can be worn to a pre-wedding party for example and be perfectly fine. Or maybe to a very casual wedding on a Hawaiian beach or a garden party. For many weddings though, have you ever seen a photograph of wedding guests where someone really stood out, and not in a good way, because of what they were wearing? Many times it isn’t the design, style or fit of the dress but the fabric pattern that just doesn’t fit the wedding vibe. Mtn, you have such elegant taste, and with your height, a two-tone dress or blouse and skirt with belt or sash will look fabulous. Maybe people forget that taller girls can pull off that look very well. I think that is why many of us liked the square neckline of the blue dress so much too. Looked model-fabulous on you.

Now why haven't I thought of that! I'm going to the fabric store and look for fabric for bottoms.The twins are small for their age and I have trouble finding PJ's for both of them that fit.If the top fits,the bottoms are too big around the waist and have to be taken up,which is a pain.Don't know why I haven't thought of making them.Well, probably because I just bought a used sewing machine so I can alter stuff for them.I can even dress up a plain white t-shirt for Jillian.

Sheila-You could also take a pair of old bottoms and rip them up to use for a pattern.If you're using white t-shirts for tops why spend money on a pattern? Those things are so expensive! If you are really industrious you could cut out something in the print and aplique it on the shirt or maybe put some of the print as a binding on the bottom or on the sleeves.

They do have patterns, and I came upon them as I was browsing for a pattern for a flannel robe for him. DGS is 3 1/2, and growing enough that he needs new pjs every year or so. Therefore, using the outgrown pjs won't work. But I could buy a pattern and sew the bottoms and use white undershirts as the top with some kind of trim. But first I have to fall in love with the fabric. Otherwise, I can just buy inexpensive pjs at WalMart -- probably at close to the cost of sewing them!

Yes, but it's fun to make them yourself. Did you ask over on the sewing forum? Maybe Susie hangs out over there. I remember those pj's...very cute.

How about making the bottoms only out of flannel, buy a big white T shirt, cut a piece of flannel with the design on it, then whip-stitch the flannel onto the Tee?

Wal-Mart has some cute cotton blend fabrics also.Was strolling through the fabric section here the other day and saw some with Dora on it and was trying to figure out what I could make for Jillian with it.Now I know! I'm gonna go back next week and get some and some white T's and make her some PJ's.Maybe they have some with Deigo for Rowdy.Maybe try to find plain,colored T's too.There is place a few blocks from us that does graphics and logos on T shirts.They have plain ones on sale at times for $1.00 each.We got a few for the kids the other day.Maybe there's something like that where you live?

I'd do the pj pants or shorts and decorate a coordinating color tshirt with fabric scraps. My DGB's all love pj pants and tshirts. I can buy the Hanes for $3 each, colors mostly.

Something to think about....Be careful when you buy the flannel...A lot of the time, flannel will shrink, so you really have to get a good quality....

I think is was Caroline that made them for her DGD, Natalie.....

On the shrinkage issue, it is always a good idea to wash any fabric before using. Just about any fabric will shrink even it it is a good quality.

Also make sure it is a flame retardant fabric. I made myself a pair of pj/lounge pants out of the cotton blend fabric from WalMart. I love them!

I don't need flame retardant. No one smokes in our families and we don't light candles. I am actually more concerned about the effect all that chemically treated fabric has on the little ones.

Flame retardant pjs started with so many little tots playing with the lighters and matches laying around the house and getting too close to fires and candles. Doesn't happen in our families, thank goodness.
